Yes, it's a nice idea, although, that would imply, regardless your race that your parents are from Skyrim (and you as well) but maybe some of us would prefer their characters coming from...Morrowind, Highrock, Hammerfell, Elsewyr... And so on.. (or maybe Quagmire, Coldharbour...I would say Passwall lol)
Interesting idea for a mod. I have it set for tracking just not sure if I will download it or not. I would need to know a bit more about this mod first. Like if you are a certain type of character from the start are your parents the same type of character. Take for instance I am a vampire so are both parents vampires.
Mom is naked. Won't put on any clothes. Had to walk back out on the porch to smoke a cig and think about that. Great idea though! Would be a good starting point for the game. Would be good to be able to talk a little to them.(Maybe ask Mum to put on some clothes?) Ha! Thanks!
This is a great mod idea! I will be tracking this one...I hope you are still working on it. Some ideas:
ALTERNATE STARTING PLOTS: the Dragonborn starts the game at home with mom and pa, and after a couple of days, a note arrives by courier. The letter could start a number of different plot lines (either selected by the player, or chosen at random):
- Drafted! the Dragonborn has been drafted into the army! (player can choose Stormcloak or Imperial, or let the choice be random). The parents offer their support, and some starting equipment--turns out, mom and dad used to be soldiers back in their day, before they settled down. The dragonborn must report to Solitude or Windhelm, and the Civil War quest triggers.
- Inheritance! The Dragonborn has inherited the deed to a house in Helgen! Mom and dad give the Dragonborn a fresh horse and some travel gear. Sadly, as soon as the dragonborn arrives in Helgen to claim it, Alduin attacks and destroys the whole town, triggering the main quest. Later, ma and pa help the dragonborn rebuild the town and restore his inheritance (via the Helgen Reborn mod, perhaps?)
- Recruitment! One of the factions in the game (the Companions, the Thieves' Guild, the College at Winterhold, the Bard's College, the Silver Hands, the Vigilants, the Foresworn, etc.) is seeking new members, and the Dragonborn has been invited to join them. Mom and dad aren't surprised...they too were once members of that same organization back in their day. They supply the Dragonborn with some faction-specific starting gear, and proudly send him away to make his own name in the world.
- Framed! A warrant has been issued for the Dragonborn's arrest...he has been framed for a crime (murder? skooma smuggling? necromancy?) in one of the capital holds! The Dragonborn must go on the run from the law and clear his good name, by finding the real criminal and bringing him to justice. Ma and pa help out by giving him some stealthy starting gear, a few lockpicks, and such--turns out, mom and dad were once active members in the thieves' guild, and know a thing or two about evading the law. Later, ma and pa serve as fences for stolen goods.
- Kingmaker! The Dragonborn's little brother or sister was adopted. Moreover, he or she happens to be the heir of an important family in Cyrodill. The time has come for the child to return home, and the Dragonborn must escort his little brother or sister safely to the border. Ma and pa help out by supplying the Dragonborn with fresh horses and travel gear.
RADIANT QUEST IDEAS: things that can happen randomly to the Dragonborn, his parents, or his childhood home.
- Illness! The Dragonborn gets a letter from home...his ma or his pa (or both!) have come down with a terrible case of Rock Joint. The dragonborn must deliver a potion right away!
- Kidnapping! The letter is a ransom note from a group of nearby bandits. They have captured your mom, or your pa, or both, and are threatening to kill them. The Dragonborn must rescue them before it is too late!
- Vampires! The dragonborn returns for a visit, and notices that his Ma and Pa are acting strangely. And they have a strange new roommate now: a thin, pale young woman with sharp teeth. By Shor, they have been turned into vampires! The Dragonborn must destroy the master vampire and find a cure for his poor parents! Or maybe the Dragonborn will join them instead, in which case the vampire roommate becomes a follower, maybe even a marriage candidate.
- Werewolves! As above, except the new roommate is a werewolf.
All in all, a stellar idea. I look forward to seeing how this mod evolves.
