@Vontwast well think about even though it is a low end bow in skyrim it it's based on a bow that was made for battle the bows they used in battle back then really were a bit thick and ranged from 80-100+ draw weight so it could deal the damage it did back then which is why archery was so good especially so in ancient times (late bc early ad) before the middle ages when metal armor was kinda rare most armor was only stiffened cloth or leather with some armor suits being made with strips or scales of bronze
Very nice indeed! I play a Samurai character, and this bow with iron arrows has a closer lore feel to keeping true with the time and age. Much appreciated.
Looks more like hickory anyway . Nice retex, solid work man -- endorsed wholeheartedly. Not enough bows on the Nexus, been using this for some time and it makes the first couple of levels out of Helgen more pleasant for my archers.
kirk - I just remembered what I was taught in my "wood science" class back in college, 30 years ago. Yew would be the other wood for bows, that's what Robin Hood used and all English yeomen bowmen (see the battles of Crecy and Poitiers). Native Americans would come to a young ash tree and cut out the wood that would be shaped into the bow. Thanks for the kudo.
@telsono Cool thanks for the Info I have made a quick ash retexture will be uploaded shortly. Will rename this to hickory because you seem to know your stuff when it comes to bows!
from the color, I would call it a hickory bow, and not walnut. Walnut is a darker wood and actually not used much for bows. Hickory is more reddish brown and also a superior wood for bows. Ash is the premier wood for bows and is a blonder color. Both ash and hickory have good absorbance to shock and is also why they are use for tool handles (hammers and axes).
