hello. this is such an amazing mod it truly deserves more attention. You should really port this to SE. or with your premission i could aswell. I already did port it to form 44 for my personal use and it works flawless! Thank you Tanishin.
Tanishin: you need to fix the file/folder structure in your NMM installer option as it is setup incorrectly which is the reason for all these people posting about it not working. For those of you currently trying to use this and it not working, you can get the manual version and place the Sound folder and the .esp file into your Skyrim>Data folder and it will work with the .esp enabled.
Firstly, this mod is awesome. Thanks! However, every time I fire the crossbow, everything else in the game tones down in volume. It's as if I had just fired a Barrett .50cal right next to my head and I can't hear anything. It goes back to normal in about 15 seconds, but it is bothering me a little that the moderate "snap" from the crossbow fire is making everything else tone down in volume for 15 seconds. Is this from this mod or is that the fault of the game code itself?
Your "Effects" Slider is lover than others. lower not lover. you should have your Effects slider maxed out anytime. First try that. If that doesn't work, you have to activate or deactivate loudness equalization (sound card driver. ), mine is bugged when i disable it, it becomes enabled.
You've made a lot of different versions of the firing sound. Maybe you could make a config of some sort that lets you choose which one? It's hard to find all of the different sounds without DL'ing the files and listening to them yourself one by one. It also seems to be that a number of the firing sounds are biased to the right in 1.4. I went in myself and 2 of corrected them (firing sound #2 I'm considering deleting because of a pop noise), as the audio balance was staggering.
To everyone who is saying it's loud: Old crossbows ARE really loud, loud enough to warrant ear protection. Usually at this strength of a crossbow and with this construction, expect it to be as loud as firing a .22 rifle. Hell, some modern crossbows are still hella loud. It's why it doesn't make sense as a sneak weapon. Now if you have handled only new-age crossbows, you'll appreciate the 1.5 loudness (or a lack thereof, actually), which is why I say there needs to be a config of some sorts so we can choose properly. If you buy the right kind of crossbow, you can get one that is as quiet as a whisper in the wind. These crossbows are relatively way less powerful, but you have to understand that you can pick up pretty much any crossbow and shoot someone through a car door, so imagine that as skyrim armor instead. If it doesn't kill you, it's painful.
So: v1.4: Sounds are biased to the right, final sound is completely different than the rest. v1.5: Brings in better immersion for a sneak weapon (or if you just don't like having your ears blasted).

I revised a problem that was reported in post.
In addition, I changed sound of "Shot and Reloading".
I am sorry to trouble it.
I'm not sure if this is a conflict, but after installing this, the sound of the crossbow firing is silent.

+ Steel crossbow in the game really won't be much powerful in reality ( the dwarven one is just a fantasy).
