For those of you following the mod, I just want to give a little update.

I'm having a lot of trouble updating the mesh and texture because of some issues with blender and nifskope, so the actual model getting updated may be delayed, however, I'm going to release a version tonight that has fixes, and reverses some of the errors made in the .esp.

Hope you see this, you don't have to but I would really love the Serpent sword from Dark cloud in this game. It was my favorite sword growing up. I remember legit breaking down in tears when I accidently broke it. Then I realized two minutes after "turn the playstation off. restart all your progress, you didn't do much anyway but get some Alta (or whatever the heck it was called. the orb things that had the building stuff). But if you could make the Serpent sword (not pressuring you to make it, Honestly couldn't care if you did make it, would just make my day a bit more bright.) in Skyrim. Then once it's downloaded. Time to kill all the giant snakes Hadvar talked about. Well if you see this. Comment if you're not busy. Thanks in advance.

Holy...how did I not find this beforehand? This is pretty great! Dark Cloud has always been one of my favorite games and it makes me glad to see that this exists, albeit not updated in years, but still exists.

Anychance you could port this over to SE? Darkcloud was my favorite child hood game by far and this sword is too well made for me to not want it!!!!!!!!

It looks good, though my only problem with it at the moment is that the sword's model could use a little work. Still awesome though

Just to provide some constructive criticism here, but I think the sword still needs a little work. For example looking at the picture of it being held in first person you can see the textures stretching across the back of it. I'm guessing it's still a little bit of a work in progress? Still it's not bad for a first attempt and I do like the designs on it. I think if you worked a little more on the shape of the sword it might look a lot better. So good work and I'll be waiting to see the progress made on this one!

One thing I did want to ask though, the damage output you've got listed in the screenshot... Is that the regular damage or are you using SkyRe? Because if so that weapon is a little too overly powered for something you can just get for free sitting at the Throat of the World.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm going to update the texture soon so I can give it nicer, more clean look. Oh, and the back part of the sword (the part facing you when you're holding it) was textured that way There's no stretching, but I still plan to give it a more steel / metal look to remove the bland appearance!

The damage is with armor, rings, amulets, etc with One-Handed enchants I play on Legendary, so the mod was made mostly for myself.

I gave it a base damage of 75 (I was considering going with the original game's base damage of 135).

Even with a base damage of that high it makes it a bit overpowered well over any Vanilla weapon. I'm using ACE and my One-Handed is around 50-60 if I recall, the damage output from the sword was well over 170 for me. I'm also using BYOG with a slight boost to damage for one handed weapons but with a output that high it can pretty much decimate anything within a short time. Also I uploaded a few better screenshots at 1920x1080 for you in the image gallery. Now as for the shape of the sword though there's a few things I can note:

      - The hilt looks very brittle, perhaps if you rounded it more? Looking at it in-game the handle part of the hilt is very thin, almost flat-looking giving me the impression that it might break very easily.

      - On the back of the sword there's this strange black lump protruding from the back (See my image of it when holding it in first person, blocking.) that looks really out of place, was that supposed to be there?

      - The entire sword looks very shiny and in certain light it's very difficult to view it. In fact the close-up shot of the hilt I had to keep trying over and over because from several angles it was too bright from the lighting.

      - On the very back of the sword the hilt (The part that resembles a fan shape.) there's a sharp cut out of the tip that looks a little irregular. I haven't played Dark Cloud before but I looked up a picture of the sword online and I believe it might look a lot nicer if you were to try and round out the edges and give more attention to the details.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm trying to nitpick or tear your work apart, that's not my intention at all! Just trying to offer some constructive feedback on how to improve the design a little so it looks less flat and has more dimension to it. I've never actually tried working on anything in Blender before but I can imagine this probably took a lot of work to get the right shape so I commend you on that!

EDIT: I took a look at your .esp file and noticed a few things, maybe not intentional but you've made some dirty edits in your mod that may cause unintentional side-effects including from what I've noticed a deleted reference. The deleted reference however I think may be from something you added then deleted so it shouldn't cause issues with the vanilla game.

Tips for removing dirty edits using the CK:

      * Open the CK. Select the folder icon from the toolbar. Highlight your mod from the list and choose "Details".

      * From the box that appears select each of the following entries:

      FXcameraAttachEffectsACT
      MQ204SetStage125
      MQ206AlduinLandingMarker
      MQ206TimeWoundRef
7thHeaven (The one marked with a "D" in one of the columns.)

For each entry click on it, press "Delete" on your keyboard. A message will pop up saying the if you choose to ignore this entry it will not be loaded into the CK. Select "Yes" when asked.

      * Once you have marked an entry as ignored a | mark will appear in one of the columns, this means when the .esp is loaded into the creation kit it will not reference this entry and effectively removes it safely. This can be used for safely removing a dirty edit you unintentionally made when placing something down in the game world or deleting a vanilla reference you didn't mean to.

      * When you have completed this select "Close" to close the box and then make sure your mod is ticked as an active file.

      * Now just click "OK" to load your mod and when it is loaded promptly save it again to clean it of those edits.

Alternatively you can use TES5Edit to do the same thing but I find this means easier if you're actively modding a file and don't want to close down the entire creation kit just to undo a small edit. I've already had to use this a number of times when working on my own mod in a tight space and accidentally making a marked edit to a vanilla entry I didn't intend to change. You can always tell what entries you've made/edited because there will be an asterisk by the entry.

Haha, there's quite a lot to reply to so bear with me

First of all, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to actually give me some extremely useful design / fundamentals feedback on my mod! This will definitely help me improve as a modder and as an artist.

What I'll do to fix some of the issues I've noticed, as some people have pointed out, is make a "lore-friendly" version. This would make the weapon look a little more faded, and add a storyline (other than the one I intended to make for those who wish to *eventually* use my Dark Cloud themed story). The damage will be reduced along with those other details I mentioned.

      - I'll add some support to the hilt, and give it a transition piece. This way, the hilt will go into a thicker piece of metal, which will then connect to the main portion of the sword. I'll also thicken the hilt a little bit.

      - The bump is supposed to be there, but I must have went over it with the wrong color while texturing, so it appears unintended. This will be fixed in my newest version!

      - I'll go into NifSkope and edit the qualities of the sword I did notice that it looked almost as if it was made of glass, which was unintended.

      - Not quite sure the "cut" you're talking about, sorry

Don't worry, I'm not taking it as nitpicking. It's very useful information, and if I intend to make weapons in the future, I'll have to make sure they're high-quality in order to appeal to the users Yeah, trying to get this to work in Blender took quite a while, and without some help, I probably wouldn't have been able to complete it.

I'll be sure to follow your instructions on removing the dirty edits and upload an update of the sword as it is now when I'm done with that first step. It'll just be a hotfix sort of thing.

If you look at the image I mentioned there look at the back end of the hilt, the guard rather, is fan-shaped but at the top edge is a sharp groove or cut in the design. Maybe you designed it like that intentionally but it just looks out of place compared to the image of the actual sword I looked this one was modeled after. That's the "cut" I was mentioning. But overall glad my feedback was helpful to you. ^^

I really want to make the Serpent Sword first, but I'll most definitely get to those!
