Back in Oblivion I thought a function like this could make it possible to show damaged armor and weapons as they became damaged. never happened though. Probbable way more trouble than its worth any way.

Actually they did achieve it for Oblivion, but only armors. It had a wierd name though, something like break undies. I am not sure anymore if it was hosted on the nexus, but I am positve the armours were on nexus.

The button "Add Destruction Data" in CK ?

I think it was more complex than that, since it used the armour health and several different levels of destructions (with seperate nifs and possibly textures?)

The issue with the CK version (as far as I am aware) would be that it is a toggle - broken, or not broken. But it couldn't handle varied levels of damage, which is what the people ideally want.

I have heard people might be working on a skyrim version, but with no news coming it seems like they aren't having any luck so far.

Armour/weapon health works as it in Oblivion, increase by tempering ,but never decrease.
So another toggle is required for stage select.
I heard a BU system using owner's health percent .

I'm curious, could you add the helmet slot in as well?

a nif file will not tell you if it takes the place of hair/circlet only or whole head .
i think that will cause issues, such as only a circlet at the place but head disappeared.

Holy hell... This beats the pants off of hunting down mats and heading to a forge every time I get a hankerin' for a new look (or console commanding everything in; I just feel... dirty doing that).

Not only that, but I can stay up-to-date with my armor rating since I play with SkyRe and Master difficulty. No more do I have to lower the difficulty because my armor can't keep up with the game.

Now I build the best armor (or loot the best) and look like whatever the hell I want to! New armor mod I want to try? No Problem! Switch out the nifs and rock out with my ©ø©k (couldn't find something creative for k) out!

Now if only I could endorse this from now until eternity...

EDIT: Forgot to mention: Thank you, thank you, thank you for the easy "save a nif" option. I spent 30m trying to figure out which nifs I needed for certain armors and then realized you had this option available in-game >.<

I can't wait to try this out.... I've waited for a mod like this since Skyrim was first released. There was a mod back in Oblivion that did something similar to this and it quickly turned into one of my favorite mods. I'll try it out this evening.

This is a fantastic idea, i can't wait to try this out! =)

EDIT: Sadly, just tried this mod out and it doesn't appear in my MCM menu using SkyUI 3.2 and SKSE 1.6.9, any chance you could look into it? =(

Same here, have you tried it with SkyUI 3.1? I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Just gave it a try, interestingly it works perfectly with SkyUI 3.1 but not with SkyUI 3.2 *confuzzled*

      my fault,
since script can't be initated by SkyUI3.2.

btw,it takes a few seconds to initate.

edit: if nifswitch isn't show on MCM,just reload ur save.....and
all my MCM menus are disappeared in SkyUI3.3,XD

I was looking through my tracking list and saw you'd posted an update and thought to myself, "Woot!". Then i noticed SkyUI had also updated too and thought, "Doh! I bet it breaks this mod again!" =p

Interestingly the change log for SkyUI shows this... "[ModConfigurationMenu] Reverted menu registration code back to 3.1 until I have more time to resolve all issues with the new method." ...so your original mod version might now work again with SkyUI 3.3. I won't be able to try it out until this evening, but i'll let you know how i get on. =)

EDIT: Just tried this out with SkyUI 3.3 and it works flawlessly again. Not sure what the SkyUI team did in 3.2 but here's hoping it doesn't happen again in 3.4!

No. What this mod appears to do is allow the use of custom armors without the need for the esp file. Or so, thats what I'm taking from it. Though, there are limitations to using this.

      You can.

Get some Iron and Daedric armor. Then you equip the Deadric, open this up in MCM. Click on the file path for daedric and then click "select a nif". You will see Daedric armor's filepath in the list there. So all you have to do is equip the iron and change it to the Daedric armor filepath from the list.

Seems to work pretty well, too.

Think of it as an appearance replacer. You keep the stats of what you have currently equipped, but you use the look of something else instead.

The Nif Switch isn't showing up on my MCM menu. Could be I installed incorrectly, but I have the esp checked on.

This breaks some serious new ground. If you achieved this... my mind is racing. I've been dreaming about a way to change the file path to an armor nif for a long time.

If there were key-binds you could wear skimpy armor and then switch it to vanilla when someone walks in with a press of a button.
