The chests do not have a shared inventory, each has its own.
To Place just drop the misc item and activate it. To pick it up again activate the placed container while sneaking then choose the option in the menu that pops up.
If you want to check out the used scripts in the Creation Kit, the source codes are included, feel free to use them. Also feel free to do anything with this mod, just give me credits.
Without SKSE only the advanced placement should simply not work, but that's it, normal placement should still be possible.
For naming your chests and other utilities check out this mod: Jaxonz Utilities Only the renaming feature: Jaxonz Renamer
As SeniorCinco mentioned the Hearthfire DLC resets sometimes and removes all added items including your placed containers and the items in them !!! So it is not recommended to place containers in Hearthfire places.
I would like to second this as it was an extremely important factor for me. There is no mod currently in SE that allows the crafting of storage containers which have separate inventories. This can be installed for SE as is. You heard that right, no unpacking a bsa or updating the mod in the creation kit. I believe that because this mod is "loose files" SSE or Oldrim are able to run it with no problems.
This is exactly what i have been looking for. thank u soo much for making this awsome mod I always had storage problems when i started a new play through But i combined your mod with campfire mod and it's sooo epic now i have a big tent near khajiits with chests full of my stuff witch is 10 times more better and EPIC than a house. i use this while traveling too in general its a good mod that is underrated so many people that want a feature like this don't know that this mod exists if someone does a review on this it would be good for you
Back to download (again, don't ask) and I just wanted to drop a note thanking you for your mod. I don't remember for sure just when I first found this. Maybe 3, 4 years ago? Whenever, it's been an integral part of most of my play throughs since.
I especially love the way it fits into Requiem. Requiem's limited carry weight forces me to have crates scattered in discreet locations near cities. Wouldn't want a thief to find them, you know. And, just like in real life what I want isn't in the crate at hand
nice mod, a great combination with mods like Frostfall, Campfire, RN&, and other mods that is filling my load order lol, 1 question tho, the chest that i really liked is the Open Chest, does it have its own space?, like if i put some things in it will i still find it 3~7 days later? or will the items disappear? sorry if it was asked by someone before me, i just saw the mod, and i really liked it.
I don't think that items disappear in Vanilla Skyrim, otherwise all the cabbages, etc would slowly disappear. There might be cleanup mods that remove spawned items though, so I'm not 100% sure.
Wanted to chime in: I have been using this mod for years, and have always loved it.
I use it in conjunction with mods like Frostfall, Campire, Equippable Tomes, & Hearthcraft - adding crates and whatnot to my camps to store stuff in. It's really nice that you can reposition the chests at will, and it's also really nice they maintain their own inventory. It's fantastic for sorting loot before you get a house, and to prevent the game from slowing to a crawl if you dump everything into one container.

Though I found a little glitch to report. Must report it privately though, or people will abuse it!
Just post the issue here or send me a pm.
