Through testing I've found that the trick shot perk will only trigger when the arrow-struck enemy is actively swinging their weapon, actively stretching their bow or holding their bow fully stretched. Further testing revealed, however, a glitch with triggering the effect under melee weapon animations. While enemies that were arrow-struck during their active bow stretching/holding animations would consistently trigger the weapon disarm effect, enemies arrow-struck under random amounts of their melee weapon animations failed to register with the perk, making the weapon disarm effect sporadic. This might be the reason why Bethesda decided to drop the perk at the last minute, where they didn't have enough time to fix the issue.

In short: The perk is bugged.

Pretty sure you are right, rather than spend a bit more time fixing it, drop it so they could release the game.

There are other things in the game, quests and whatnot that also were never implemented, pretty sure for the same reason.

In addition the perk entry of this perk is "Apply Combat Hit Spell" .. the same as the Bullseye perk .. these effects won't stack well

What does that mean they won’t stack well? What would be the result of me using both?

A newer mod fixes this issue: Working Trick Shot Archery Perk (ENG-GER-ITA).

Endorsed! This is a great mod to have for any archer, gives combat a bit more flavor. Does anyone know what the actual chance of disarmament is?

If they swing a weapon or draw their bow it disarms, if not it does not.

It can only disarm when they are attacking atm. That’s why you figured it’s less than 25%.

Admittedly, the chance should be less than 25% of the time. That'd be ridiculously high chance. I'm using Skyrim Redone though.

I read elsewhere - can't recall where so verification is an issue - that it's only your opponent too... as in someone attacking you not a follower or someone else, you have to be the target of the enemy. Plus they have to be at a certain point in their attack... ie supposedly they have too good a grip to make them drop at other points..... and even given that criteria it only triggers 1 in 4 times.... so taking all that into account the actually percentage chance that a hit will disarm the enemy you shoot is way lower than 25%.

Has anybody seen this work? Will it be a problem once you max out the archery tree because I don't imagine you'll be able to remove perk after you've passed it to bullseye.

    Thank you

Yeah, I tried this out on my Hunter/Werewolf char and it does seem to work like intended: always had a good chance to knock the wep out of the bad guys' hands. Tried it out while they were attacking, chasing after me and while sneaking. Don't rlly see anything bugged about it, but I guess that's just me...

Don't know how well it works with Bullseye tho since I barely take that perk due to the annoyance factor (enemies falling down before the arrow/bolt hits them) so if someone could check that out, that would be nice.

BTW: would this perk be "Cutting Room Floor"-worthy? Unless it's too bugged

YEAS. I had a gut feeling, being legendary archery, and thinking the last perk, paralyze, was horrible and not good, well not fit for archery, and I imagined this, so sweet

Very nice find, I think the chance to disarm is related to your critical hit, I'm going to try this out I will get back to you.

I noticed that perk when I was fiddling with the console commands, looking for perks. Now I no longer need to. Thank you friend.

    Endorsed, BTW.
