Probably also explains how the in-game physics works too when you walk into an inn and food suddenly flies everywhere

Or even worse the kettle or cauldron. I actually died once at a low level from it.

If 1 unit is 2.68 ounces, then why are ore and ingots each worth 1 unit?

Not going off any particular real world comparisons, just what I personally think the values should be more like.

Hmm, with regards to the 2.68 ounces per game weight unit thing, wouldn't that make the default starting weight only 50.25 pounds (assuming I did the math right...)? Obviously seems like a much more realistic carry weight than assuming that the default is 300 pounds, but 50 pounds is also about what a set of plate armor weighs. Weight in Skyrim is a magical thing.

Just to be technical, 1 unit of weight in Skyrim is not a pound. A chicken egg is 0.5, which is about 1.34 ounces or so, so 1 weight unit is basically 2.68 ounces (assuming the eggs in Skyrim are akin to the average US chicken egg.) Just to be clear if you're going to be re-weighting things based on real-world comparisons.
