I used the same normal maps in both of my mods for this type of armor and somewhere along the way they got messed up. V1.4 has a corrected set of normal maps and has been fully tested. Sorry for the update spam!
Version 1.3 release!
I figured out how to make a seamless pattern! So, I went and made a seamless chainmail and a seamless scalemale pattern and applied them to this mod. The new patterns make it look 1k times better.
There is the original chainmail version and a new scalemail version to choose from.
Since the game has added carved armor to all the bandit chief thugs in Skyrim, I decided to make this so that my thug-stomping Dovahkiin can still stand out and above all the rest.
Hope you folks like it and I'll get to shading the rest of the Nordic equipment soon for you guys that have requested it.
How would this work if I had aMidianBorns Nordic Carved armor and yours? So like would aMidianBorns textures stay there except for the spots that your mod touches upon? Or does it use the entire armor texture and it would fully overwrite, or be overwritten?
You need to have the Dragonborn DLC to get this armor. It's found randomly on high level bandits and at various merchants once you reach a certain level (around 25). I believe you can craft this armor but you'll need the "advanced armors" perk to do so. I've encountered several hostile NPC's wearing full suits of it on Solstheim.
It's amazing what a huge difference a bit of chainmail makes! I never noticed the vulnerable spots on the vanilla textures but this replacement looks much more sturdy and stylish!
Looks good. Personally, I really like the Carved Helm. It looks practical and sturdy, but stylised enough to stand out visually. Leave those fancy horns to the bandits, I say, I want a pragmatic helm that does the job and doesn't get snagged on doorways
Thanks for the endorsement but I gotta ask, why do so many people want to put horns on a bear? The helm is a bear's head, besides that, I don't do meshing. I don't have the software or the time to learn how.
The only thing that makes this armor a bear is pretty much those puppy-ears on the top of it. It just looks more badass/dragonborn with horns on it. Maybe you could just rip the horns of the iron helmet and place it on this or something. I'll give it a try myself for my own game then, since you don't like the idea Thanks anyways
You might be able to do it with NifSkope, if not, you will need a program called Blender. There are several Youtube videos on the subject. The most that I have done with meshes is re-associate the ring with the dwarven war axe and associate textures with meshes. Good luck, let me know how it turns out!
i was just day dreaming about a blued nordic carved armor standalone ! then we would look way more boss than those bandit chief milk drinkers ! lol , horns to the helm and it would be like a whole new armor !
