I'm pretty sure that's not a moose. Yes, the antlers are moose-like, but if you look at the snout and body build, it's completely different. Moose are very large and very long animals with big lumpy snouts, they look very different from the elks in the game, even after your antler change.

The Skyrim animal is really supposed to be the extinct Irish Elk, not a moose. Other animals fit into the theme that Skyrim parallels the time just before the last North American Ice Age. There are mammoth, sabre toothed cats and there should be dire wolves, all extinct from North America. They look exotic by today's standards, and add a primitive feel to the fantasy world of Skyrim. I really wish someone could make a real moose model. The elk model is not properly shaped to pass as a moose.

Enfin, quelqu'un qui a réellement vu un réel élan ou l'orignal. Les bois arrière m'ont toujours ennuyé. Approuvé.

Ironically, its thought the Irish Elk went extinct because of its antlers.

You're absolutely right that the Besthesda model looks like a missconcepted moose. Though as was also stated they may have been trying for the Irish elk, which it does resemble a lot.

Regardless of what bethesda was going for your mod is very well done! <- Should have mentioned that in my first post.

And i know what you mean by a moose is a moose. I'm Canadian myself and see them frequently, elk too

I think Bethesda actually base their Elk creature on the extinct Irish Elk. Check out this link if you have any doubts: http://epiccreature.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/irish-elk.html

Because Skyrim is largely a tundra and forest environment it would be cool to maybe have wild musk ox,wolverine and maybe boar roaming about the landscape. Moose in the game wouldn't go amiss either but they would be a separate species to the Elk Bethesda have scattered around.

    @ Restutitor Orbis
A real"Wapiti" or ""elk" (because they are the same) In north America's language) is actually not in game...
What we have in game is a "moose" and a "reindeer"... Only Bethesda call the Moose "elk" witch in north america is not appropriate !
Aniway, you are right mate !

Funny, really, we can go on and on with this...lol

First of all, thanks for the fix!
However, if I may comment on the name thing: both sides are right, in their own way.

What in North America is called a Moose is called an Elk in Europe.

What in North America is called an "Elk" does not exist in Europe, but is only native to this continent. To avoid confusion, may people refer to the "American Elk" by the old Native American name, "Wapiti".

None of this matters to how good your mod is, but I just wanted to help people avoid cross-cultural misunderstandings. The British call "elevators", "lifts", but who cares? As long as I don't have to take the stairs...
