I, for one, welcome the renaming! I only wish the other mod you were refering to worked (the link is dead).
And who cares if it's nitpicky? And to all those people who say that "It's the imperial name" and all that, doesn't it just prove that Imperials are ignorant? Calling Orsimer - Orcs, and Dwemer - Dwarves, and Dremoras - Daedra (sure, they're daedra, but there's so many types of daedra out there! so, there)

Wow, yeah, I literally just commented on another mod for this exact thing. So, I'm going to just copy and paste my response there to here.

"Another one of these? You do realize that Dwarf is to the Dwemer what Orc is to the Orsimer, right? Changing all things from Dwarven to Dwemer is just super nitpicky and pointless. Are you going to make a mod that changes all things "Orc" to "Orsimer", too?

Most people don't realize that just because they're called Dwarves doesn't mean they aren't elves. In fact, both Dwarves and Elves stem from Norse mythology, and Dwarves in Norse myths are a type of elf; the Svartalfar, or Swarthy Elves. So Bethesda was really spot on with depicting their Dwarves as a type of Elf.
Think of it this way, people like to be lore snobs and go around with the whole Dwemer over Dwarf business, and even refer to them as the Deep Folk or Deep Elves. But you'll never hear those same people call Orcs Pariah Folk or Pariah Elves, even though Orcs are also a type of elf in TES lore.

At the same time, this feels like a fan going, "I know the lore better than the people who wrote it. The creators of the Dwemer don't know what they're doing, so I'm going to correct them, because as a fan, I know more." If Bethesda deliberately listed things as Dwarven, why are you changing it and claiming that it's either wrong or doesn't make sense?"

Both are the official term though, that's how the series works.

Yes, "Dwarves" are their Imperial name. I just felt that for something such as a the name of an item, the more official term would be more appropriate.

But people in the game calling them dwarves is lore friendly though, fans didn't make it up out of nowhere.

That and the elves are often refereed to by their "man" names rather than their native mer. How many times can you think of that orcs were called orismer?
