I've uploaded a Roasted Meat Combination Pack for all that are interested.

It contains the compatibility versions that animegirl12249 created for Frostfall and Frostfall with Hunterborn. (both do require Realistic Needs and Diseases)

Please feel free to add suggestions of other mods that should be made compatible!

Due to my impatience and love of this mod, I've decided to try and set this up for Frostfall fires myself. If I manage to get it, I'll be sure to let you know, if you're interested.

I've got it all set up and I'm actually planning on testing it shortly, but I don't know if I'll be able to share it with you, I'd need Cayce's permission first. The best I'd be able to do without that is tell you how to do it. From my attempts it seems somewhat simple, but with my luck I'm doing it wrong and it's nowhere near as simple as I've found.

Heh, that would really be awesome!I don't have much time to mod myself at the moment, so if you get it to work, feel free to share it.
Maybe you could send me the file - I could upload it here with credits to you - so everyone who wants a Frostfall version can easily find it. Or you upload it yourself and I link to it. However you like.

But please, let me know how your testing goes!

For anyone interested, the Frostfall patch is finished and works fine, and I'll be sending it to Cayce sometime tomorrow. I've set it up a bit differently, so the RND charred meats can be made with this method, and if anyone wants any kind of variation in the recipes or wants Hunterborn recipes or some other mod's recipes mixed in, just send me a message and I'll see what I can do.

Does it require DLCs to work? Skyrim didn't work when I activated them (I tried both Hunterborn one and without). The original Roasted Meat mod worked fine.

Would this mod work with any modded food? (food that wasn't in the game before)

Eh, sorry for the late answer :o

No, it wouldn't. It only adds a few recipes of the vanilla game (or the mods mentioned in the description), anything else would need a new patch.

Lots of people are using Isoku's needs mod. How about a compatible version for that, Frostfall, & Hunterborn. Or just a patch for Frostfall & Hunterborn would be most excellent!

Hey, sorry for not answering for so long.

I'm currently not maintaining the mod, but if you're still interested in a compatibility version for Isoku's needs and Frostfall or Hunterborn you might want to contact animegirl12249. She made the compatibility version for RND and Frostfall/Hunterborn and offered to make new combinations as well

Hi. When I chanced upon your mod i was very excited as this was what I had been looking for exactly! I DL'ed the combination pack and there was no ESP attached. So I DL'ed the RND pack and when I use the power I only get 3 choices... Beef, leeks, and potatoes. Ans all three need salt and the veggies need frost mirriam.

Is this file still maintained? Or did I screw up somehow?

There should be both an esp and a bsa file in the download. Just tested and it still worked. :o
How did you download it? Manuaul or via Mod Manager? I'm not sure it works with the Mod Manager as I've never used that one. It might get screwed up with that as you will find two packed files in the download before getting to the data folder. Manually downloading and installing should work

Edit: It is intended that you only see those three recipes as long as you do not have the ingredients for the other recipes, so that the menu isn't always so cluttered with stuff you don't find what you're searching for. Hence roasted venison for example will only be visible in the list when you actually have vanision meat in your inventory.

...the frost mirriam is my mistake though xD Thanks for pointing out, I forgot to change it.

You don't NEED seasoning to roast meat. It will taste.... Roasted meat. The seasoning is no what gives the roasted meat taste, it increases it and changes it depending on the spices you use.

So no, it would not taste terrible. Just less good than with seasoning.

Well, unless you suck at roasting meat and burn it, or cook it unevenly, which is a risk when you're basically cooking raw meat over an open fire.

You have no idea how many times I've sat in front of a campfire, 'hungry' because of RND, and without a cooking pot/salt, and thought 'why the hell can't I just cook some meat over the fire?'

Thank you so much for this.

First of all... sorry guys for not updating properly. Real life was just too engaging for a while. If you had problems with this mod I'm really sorry.

Roasted Meat 1.3 is now available for download. I tested this with RND and it works perfectly fine. Food Spoilage now also works with the food of my mod.

There will no longer be a Realistic Wildlife Loot version however.

The patch that used to make RND and RWL compatible is no longer included in the RND PatchPack - as RND does have it's own patch for more realistic animal loot now. (Though it does not have all options that RWL has)
So if you wanted to use both RND and RWL together lately the problems you experienced might as well be the fact that both, the patch for RND and RWL and my Roasted Meat, were depending on an older version of RND.

I don't know what else could have caused problems – the only RND version of Roasted Meat still worked great for me. No ctds... no strange behavior at all. I never used RWL however.

It might be possible to get older versions of the mods to work together but I wouldn't do that unless you really, really can't play without RWL. I can't tell you wich version you would need to make it work with my mod however as I don't remember which one I used to create Roasted Meat.

    Future plans:
I am currently trying to make a version that works with the self build fires from frostfall. There are still some difficulties with letting my mod recognize that you are actually standing near one of those fires...

Apart from that these are things I would really like to have:
    - let the mod recognise if Frostfall is installed or not so no extra Frostfall version is needed
    - if this works, make mod compatible with other mods that add new fires/new camps with fires
    - make a MCM menu to be able to map a key to the Roast Food ability. (and remove it from the spells menu)

    Huh.

So after playing with it for a while, I don't think this and RND is compatible.

I have to manually change the load order to get it to work, but doing so basically disables RND. So I can either CTD when I try and use the 'roast food' menu, or I can have RND enabled but all of my food/water loses its hunger/thirst effects.

Too bad, I'd be all for this mod if the two of them could work well together.

    :/

Gonna leave the endorsement there though.

It is not working as it should at the moment. Sorry for that. :/
It's probably the fact that my mod is older than the recent RND version...

I've just reinstalled Skyrim however (not played for a long while) and will be trying to solve that problem. Hopefully it is going to work then! I was looking forward to play with both mods myself.

Is this mod still alive???it fills a perfect need since in order too cook in the wild you need a Cooking pot with Frostfall and RND. This defeats the purpose of survivorman style gameplay. As far as I can tell now this mod only works with existing campfires not player created ones, anybody else tried it lately?

      Tang,

      Good point.

Since I just started a new save I can't answer that yet, but will let you know as soon as I do.

      EDIT:
My RND and this were not playing nice together. I can't say exactly why the incompatibility, but something about these two were disabling each other.

Just wanted to say thanks so much for this mod!!

I use Frostfall, which means I also use a lot of cooking mods to go with it.

For anyone worried about load order, mine is set up as so:

    --Cooking Expanded (CE)
    --Realistic Needs and Diseases (RND)
    --CE/RND--PATCH
    --Realistic Wildlife Loot (RWL)
    --RND/RWL PATCH
--Roasted Meat (patched version, for RWL/RND)

A good thing to note, is that even if you are using BOSS, you will have to tweak your load order some. For some reason, BOSS was putting RND(main) at the bottom and some of my patches out of order. So when I got into the roasting menu, I was CTD.

The only slightly weird thing is that I'm getting a double recipes for the meat that is available to make to me -- the salted and salt-less version (for both vanilla and RWL recipes -- horse, salmon, pheasant, rabbit, wolf). I'm assuming it's coming from having two patches -- RND/RWL and RND/RWL for Roasted Meat.

Not sure if there's actually a work-around for said problem, but either way this mod looks and feels great!! Really helps with my Frostfall/RND mod set-up. Thanks so much!!
