Well, 3 years later I'm sad to say I'm a little disappointed I didn't get to take this mod all the way like I had first planned. I thank everyone for their initial support. I'd like to say that with graduating, getting a career, and (maybe soon!) starting a family, I lost the time I had to put into this. But that would be a lie. The truth is I eventually tired of Skyrim and moved on. But I'm back, for a while at least. Once I remember where I put it, I hope to release the script I used to generate most of my mod - with some upgrades compared to my last release here.

shame you've been absent, this is a pretty brilliant idea for a mod. I hope you'll give it another go and update it for today's Skyrim. Perhaps it's time to get back into the game

Any idea if this works with SkyRe with a Bash Patch?

I would also wish to know how to make this compatible with SkyRe

I think you are familiar with the Mount & Blade Anyway, I think the idea behind the mod is nice but I'm using mods like economics of skyrim, realistic damages and skyrealism - mass and materials. These mods change the value of price, weight and damage of all items. If I use this mod with them, will the new items values be reasonable or not? Also, in the mod named frostfall, there is a woodaxe that gets damaged by the time of usage. Is it possible to implement the same for this mod? (The woodaxe also gets physically damaged)

Dont be worried about making suggestions, I consider any and all ideas that are presented to me... and I'm not going to make fun of anyone that presents an idea they think is cool.

I'm sorry if this sounds stupid, but would it be possible to make it so that what type of weapon you craft depends on your smithing skills? For example, if you have 15 in smithing you automatically create a very bad weapon, while if you have 100 it's a masterwork weapon? IT would add that little bit of immersion to the game.

I find it strange that the quality of the weapon doesn't scale with your level in smithing. You have to upgrade it at a grindstone for it to benefit from your skills.

Taro has a great idea, by the way. Have a look at his comment, as it would be awesome to have more variation as well. Also, look at kira's comment. (S)he has a very great idea, in that the use of weapons degrades them.

You could also add a tiny chance of weapons breaking, with lower level weapons having a higher chance of breaking than higher level weapons.

Please consider it at least! Thanks in advance.

This is so close to my dream mod that I am waiting for that adds weapons and armor similar to that which you updgrade at smithing stations. At some point were you possibly planning on adding different versions of armor based on the vanilla smithing system?Perfect, flawless......I forget the other names. The reason I stopped improving my gear was because it was sillly that I was the only one in the entirety of Skyrim that managed to figure out that I could make my gear better just by grinding it or pounding it with a hammer for a couple of seconds.

This is a splendid idea. Just a thought on crafting.

Perhaps have a random chance to make any level of modifier, but supplemented by your skill and perks in smithing related to the item you are crafting.

It would demean the act of searching for the right type of weapon if you could just craft it yourself easily.

Perhaps it could even work like the enchanting system where you had to find a weapon of that modifer before you could craft it.
