Mmmm... I know you're not taking requests, etc but... Why didn't you remove plates, cups and glasses too? I'd really love to remove all that junk from my savegame hehehe.
Another reason could be for the more clutter-obsessive players. You can pick up everything but that pesky silverware and burlap napkins. Otherwise, a house could be cleaned and everything placed where the clutter-obsessed wants it.
I can think of at least one pretty popular mod for Fallout: New Vegas which reduces clutter to improve FPS. So I agree with Gerandirr, it's definitely not as arbitrary as some people might think.
I suppose this would free up a few fps (seeing, it removes unecessary objects that use up memory) so it's not as useless as most people would think. Maybe remove more stuff that people (NPCs) and the player is not using ? It could very well end up as a popular mod for people who care more about preformance issues then lore friendliness.

I am so tempted to replace all the cutlery with bears now....
The game has to save the locations of all the things you move so they are in the same place when you come back.
Ever walk into a room only to have random items explode into motion and fling across the room?
Congrats you've just added to your save game.
I believe that was in line with what the original requestor wanted!
:-)
Hi, I had not thought of it that way! I guess we shall see, but I would not really expect very many people to be interested in the mod.
