MACROMANCY - Size-Changing Spells for Skyrim

CHANGES IN 6.0.2:

- Fix to math in Titan's Wrath/Glory; should now reset correctly.
- Tweak to vampiric growth FX, threshold for restart should be lower.
- Addition to size restoration script to correct speed issues some users were having
- Cruft pared down in Dynamic Growth Module
- Mystic Osmosis added, a spell that allows you to teach Macromancy spells to NPCs

LOAD ORDER

Macromancy.esm --- REQUIRED, core module.
MacromancyMerchant.esp --- REQUIRED. Adds Nazira, a merchant who will sell you all current and future macromancy.
GrowthSpells.esp --- Adds enlarge and shrink spells.
TitansWrath.esp --- Adds Titan's Wrath and Glory, self-enlargement spells.
GrowthEncounter.esp --- Adds a battle with a Forsworn Macromancer to the Reach.
VampiresDrainSize.esp --- Vampires also drain size along with health. Shrinkage can be cured with any disease cure.
SeranaDrainsSize.esp --- The ability from VampiresDrainSize applied to Serana's attacks (i.e. her drain spell).

INSTALLATION

Install with Nexus Mod Manager is recommended; otherwise extract **ENTIRE** contents of archive into Data, okaying when prompted to overwrite. Macromancy overrides no vanilla scripts, and will therefore shut down in your game when the ESPs are deactivated.

F.A.Q.

<< SPECIAL VERSION 6 SECTION >>

Q) Whoa wtf!! I upgraded and a bunch of NPCs/my character shrank down very small afterwards! What gives?

A) V6 has significantly altered the base scripts, both to work a little faster and to put Fame on a 1:1 ratio with Scale. The scripts are designed to assume you're 1.0x scale and 0.0 fame, so if you're anywhere above or below that, the *first* time you use a growth or shrinking spell, the scripts will assume you're much smaller than you actually are. To fix this, cast growth spells, or a size restoration spell, until you and/or affected NPCs are back to normal.

Q) Where's the Forsworn Macromancer???

A) See the end of this readme.

Q) OMG I can't kill the Macromancer!!! She's flying around in the sky, send help

A) Her fight is trickier than you might get in vanilla Skyrim. She specifically has high immunities to magic, though it's possible to brute-force her with Master-level spells. She is weak against physical attacks, but one has to be quick to kill her with them before her main attack has made her too powerful to easily kill with them. If your targeted attacks are having little effect, AOE is your next best option. Finally, her attack is actually only capable of damaging a few forms of creatures: dragons, dovahkiin, and most magical summons; plan accordingly.

<< END OF V6 SECTION >>

Q) It doesn't work!

A) I need to know the specifics of the problem before I can fix it.

Q) I found the spells and added them to my spellbook, but when I cast them nothing happens, what's wrong?

A) If during the installation you did not give Windows or NMM permission to overwrite, most likely the scripts were not copied over properly. Try reinstalling and select "Yes/OK" when prompted. Macromancy uses entirely original scripts, so any files it is overwriting are its own.

Q) Could you pack the scripts in a BSA?

A) I would but I've never gotten that functionality to work correctly in the CK.

Q) After using Titan's Wrath, my speed is off, what's wrong?

A) If you're walking slowly and cannot run, this is by design; in third-person it looks very awkward to run at 5x scale. If there are speed glitches after the spell is over (either very slow or very, very fast) try opening and closing your inventory.

Q) Could you upload to Steam Workshop?

A) No, partly due to my not being able to get the BSAs working, and partly because I do not wish to upload this mod to the Workshop myself. If anyone would like to do so on my behalf, they can send me a P.M. and volunteer.

Q) I found Nazira but she won't sell me any macromancy spells, why?

A) First, make sure MacromancyMerchant.esp is loading **BEFORE** every other macromancy mod. The best way to insure this is to drag it up the list and drop it right after the ESMs (i.e. Skyrim.esm, Dawnguard.esm, etc.). If the spells are still not appearing, it may be due to a rare and unpredictable bug where the leveled item entries in the macromancy ESPs become dissasociated from the base leveled item entries in the ESM. Try reinstalling the mod.

Q) When I use an ability like Titan's Wrath or get hit by the Vampiric Drain spell, I am teleported into midair or crash to desktop, why?

A) Unfortunately there are issues with how the Skyrim engine handles the SetScale function on the player, and this leads to highly unusual behavior. Luckily, recent updates for video card drivers seem to be fixing the issue, so check your manufacturer's website and insure that you're using the latest drivers. Otherwise, be cautious and save before using spells that modify the player's scale or before you fight vampires.

MODIFYING YOUR THIRD-PERSON CAMERA

I can't mod in a way myself to fix your camera when you use Titan's Wrath, but I can give you instructions to do that yourself.

Go to My Documents/my games/skyrim, and open Skyrim.ini with Notepad. Go to the end of the file, and paste in this block of text:

[Camera]
fVanityModeMaxDist=6000.0000
fVanityModeMinDist=50.0000
fMouseWheelZoomMinDelta=0.0050
fMouseWheelZoomSpeed=0.8000
fMouseWheelZoomIncrement=0.01
fMinCurrentZoom=0.001

Then save the file and reload Skyrim. You'll now be able to zoom out much farther when you're at max scale.

CONFLICTS

Any mods which modify the student dorm in the College of Winterhold could conflict. Aside from that it modifies no other vanilla resources. Mods which use the ActorValue 'Fame' may interfere with this mod, though for most situations this shouldn't be the case as Fame is unused in vanilla.

Also - SPOILER ALERT - it may also conflict with any mod which modifies Dragontooth Crater in the Reach. The encounter should go off at any time in the questline; before Bleak Falls Barrow, you will face the Forsworn Macromancer and a cadre of her troops, while after her troops will all be dead and she may be fighting a dragon. Either way, expect a difficult fight.
