@jore66, Simply enough, you are wrong. Maybe a breastplate would weigh less. But an actual full suit of plate is heavy, especially iron, in comparison, iron full plate, maybe 60-80 pounds. Steel full plate, 40-50 pounds. A suit of chainmail, 15-30 pounds depending on the material (iron/steel). Do your research before you post.
@matthias5770, I like the idea, but to be blunt, the armor is pretty much still heavy armor, because it still uses the heavy armor skill. So I really don't understand what your mod does at all.
Modern soldiers carry 97-105 pounds of gear. Plate and mail armors are not only lower in weight, the weight is better distributed, making it less noticeable when moving or still.
I don't think the mod maker is working on this mod anymore but I was hoping to have the Imperial Studded armor I think it is or Studded Imperial armor as a medium armor
Thank you. I had a very similar idea but where the medium armor uses both of the armor types and perks. I don't want to be a bother, but could you maybe attempt that idea? so you could have the best of both worlds, Yet the way to make the mod not too over powered is that the experience you could earn is extremely low or you don't get any experience. If you don't understand Please message me, I would enjoy to talk more about it. sincerely hfestag
I always play light armor. From what I've read, Skyrim doesn't provide much benefit to those who wear heavy armor over those who wear light. I'm downloading this mod in hopes that my enemies who wear heavy armor will present the challenge to me they should. Thank you, Azeal.
I do have to agree with plate armors not being as heavy as you'd think; esp. because often heavily armored knights were mounted. Bigger problems with plate were visibility, and how vulnerable you were if you fell. You try standing up in full plate All armors here are pretty much plate; I just tried to break it down a bit more based on material; while trying to follow TES precedent. Granted, Iron should be "true" heavy, but I wanted an early med. armor to be available. And I wanted to make Dragonplate somewhat desirable, since it is pretty much outclassed by Daedric in every way. Also, dragonbone sounds lighter to me than ebony.
Full plate has much better weight distribution compared to mail armor. Balances any extra weight it has. Also plate armors are actually not that heavy at all. When I was at army (every guy at 18 age have to go here) our equiptment weighted more than full plated knight would have to carry. Also thing is that in full plate weight is much better distributed.
@Hadoumastery: Yes, both use the heavy armor skill. Adding in a med. armor tree would really not be that much of a change; the heavy armor and light armor trees aren't all that different anyways. More important is the mobility and armor values. Should you have a long lasting stamina when wearing plates of metal? Probably not. That was my goal The "medium" armor is maybe twice the weight of light armor, on average. Heavy is usually 2-3 times heavier than medium armor.
I also don't expect this mod to be for everyone; it's more of a niche mod for people who want a bit more realism or prefer MW's armor style (like me). Basically, you can be slow and tough, or a bit faster with more stamina without having to go with light armor. If that sounds interesting, check it out, if you like it, great.
