Firstly I'd like to thank everyone who has downloaded, tested, or otherwise supported my mods in any capacity. Knowing others are enjoying my work is one of the primary reasons I make mods.

However, I am sorry to say that my tenure in private modding is at an end. While I have great ideas and plans to improve or re-write every mod I currently have on the Nexus, not to mention the many new ideas I come up with every day, I cannot do everything. Like many of you I have a young family, a full time job, alongside many other real life commitments. It is a sad realisation that if I'm to continue to enjoy modding I must focus on one or two things at a time.

To this extent I have decided that any time I have to mod will be put into Beyond Skyrim. For any of you who don't know it is a project that is creating the entirety of Tamriel in the Fourth Era as a seamless extension of Skyrim. It is the most ambitious project ever undertaken by an Elder Scrolls modding group, and it's a vision I have dreamed of since I first took steps on Vvardenfell over ten years ago. If Beyond Skyrim sounds like a project you'd like to be a part of, or even follow you can find our website by clicking the picture below:

As always my work is open source, others are free to use my work as they see fit. If I've used assets from another author address them directly for permissions. Thank you all for a wonderful time as an author here on the Nexus, I look forward to seeing what other mods are made, and seeing Beyond Skyrim up here one day.

    To all,

After a long hiatus I am now back modding. Progress is slow, and I've got around six different projects of different sizes in the works, some of them remakes and upgrades of older projects, some of them new ideas. At some point I'll be releasing the new mods to replace the old, and these older, obsolete ones will be removed. Announcements will be made, and due time given to allow people to transfer to the newer mods.

Thank you to all who have supported this mod. I's one of the reasons I'm starting to work on these older goals again. As a bit of a sneak preview I can tell you that my new Smithing mod is currently unnamed, but will include the ability to control which types of equipment you can make via "Smithing Guides", it will also include most of the promised work for this file, including levelling adjustments, more recipes, and corrected keywords. All in all I'm aiming to make the Smithing system the best it can be whilst retaining the core concepts laid down by Bethesda.

    Many thanks.

Daiyus, your work alone on the fixing the weird weapon IDs alone is a welcome mod. Considering the other mods that do similar things are not very barebones and modify the craft lists for smithing. So thank you for your work; modding IS time-consuming.

For the last few months I have been desperately trying to keep up with many, many, aspects of my life. I've been trying to get mods updated, and pushing forward with my plans for them, but due to work, a long commute, and a newborn child, this is unrealistic at this time. Due to this I am officially ceasing to work on these mods.

If anyone would like to continue this work they are more than welcome to. My works are now to be considered open source.

My apologies to all who were looking forward to the development of these mods. I really am sorry to let you down, but reality must always come first. Thank you for all the support so far.

So far this mod is working beautifully. Well done! If I might make a suggestion, can you make sure that your latest version number also matches the latest file version? That way the NMM doesn't keep telling us there's a new update.

@Kletzmer: Skyrim Redone compatibility isn't a main goal for this project. My priority would be to get every planned module out in a "finished" state before I start messing around with compatibility. As you can see, I haven't updated this in months, as I have many real life responsibilities. Progress is slow (which is very frustrating for me).

That said, Skyrim Redone is a huge mod, and once I do finally get to the stage where I can think about compatibility it'll be top of the list, thanks to your request.

Regarding the other mentioned mods, they're what inspired this project. I wouldn't be allowed to just take their mod, play around and re-release it. So I have to start from scratch. My goal is to incorporate most of what those mods achieve, and go beyond, but I'm leaving Weapon and Armour fixes to the Unofficial Patch team. Everyone should be running those anyway, so there's no need for me to do it again here.

Most equipment mods come with crafting recipes, have correct keywords, etc. It's completely up to he creator as to how they wish to balance those items in game. These mods will be completely compatible regardless. The other element is permission. I'd need permission to redistribute many of those mods.

As it turns out I am also currently working on a private side project (mostly as a learning exercise, and I was hitting the plugin limit) that takes a whole load of weapons, armours, spells, clothes, and makes other edits inspired by other mods, and balances them according to my own tastes. The idea is to also descale the game with this exercise, and incorporate every additional item logically and seamlessly. It's a project that will take me years, as I'll never be finished until every DLC is released. Once I consider it "finished" I'd then go ahead and try and get permissions to distribute it, but I've drawn from so many mods that I think it would be hard to get everyone to let me use their stuff publicly.

Is this mod/are you planning to make this mod compatible with "T3nd0s Skyrim Redone"? It would be the only one so far, and it would be really nice to finally have a mod that completely fixes weapons and armours and adds missing craftables to play nicely with Skyrim Redone.

A couple of suggestions that might make your work easier:

    1) Headbomb has made three mods ("Weapons and Armor Fixes", Smithing Perks Overhaul" and "Complete Crafting Overhaul") that already cover most of the item rebalance and craftable additions. I've seen it works very well, and maybe you could start from there to add items to the games and calculate the right values for prices, damage/protection ratings etc.

    2) There are several mods that add lore-friendly equipment, like cloaks, to the game. It would be great if you incorporated some of those mods in yours.

@Donatoo: Absolutely. I haven't touched the Dragon Smithing Perk, and have made Legendary Dragon Weapons with this mod installed no problem. If I ever did touch the perk, I'd manually add the Dawnguard Keywords to the base file, so it could be used with Just Skyrim, or with Dawnguard as well.

    Is this Dawnguard compatible?

    For Dragon weapons?

Thank you for this - I'm hoping to replace the outdated Smithing Perks Overhaul and Complete Crafting Overhaul with the combination of this and Ars Metallica.

In case it hasn't been caught yet, there's a small typograpical (and grammatical) error in the Perk description for Advanced Steel Smithing.

    Thanks again!
