Hi. I downloaded this mod or one like it called Hire-a-housecarl on xbox one. I fired Iona. I haven't gotten any other housecarls, but I seem to only be able to hire Iona. The dialogue doesn't come up for any other npc.

This is a great mod. It never made sense to me that you could not hire a second housecarl if the first one fell in battle. I mean, OK, the Jarl might not give you an endless supply of housecarls, but if you have the septims you should be able to at least hire someone as a regular bodyguard.

I have, however, run into a problem.
This mod reset all my followers to Protected and set their HealRate back to 0.70.
Without this mod, "Proper Killable Followers" (from Steam Workshop) makes my followers Un-Essentilal, Un-Protected, and with HealRate 0.0.
It's not so much that I want my followers to die, but I insist that they be ABLE to die, not just by my hand,, if I get sloppy / don't take care of them.
Removing Hire Your Own Housecarl, and no others, resolved the issue and made my followers mortal again. (Yes, I cast Healing Hands a lot, during fights and/or after).

I'm still marking HYOH as Endorsed, because I suspect the vast player base does not care about that issue, and because the concept of this mod is still awesome. But I did still want to mention this for those players who do want mortal followers.

Thank you for this mod I love it.
    But I have a problem:

Serana is my housecarl now, but I can't prevent her for returning to her default location, in my case Fort Dawnguard. I've completed the Dawnguard main quest. I don't know what to do to let her stay in Breezehome. Thank you!!

Since SSE can't be purchased without HF (as far as I know) I'll most likely only port, at some point, my other mod, Hearhfire Enhanced, which includes the hire housecarl functionality for vanilla homes too.

That being said, I give permission to anyone to port Hire your own Housecarl only, WITH PROPER CREDIT, reference to the HFE that it will include it, and reserve the right to use in HFE any improvements/fixes they find for this one.

Great mod but one problem, this doesn't replace/hire Housecarls ...it replaces/adds Stewards, from the Hearthfire DLC. The new addition/replacement will not follow the "proper" Housecarls duty, i.e. patrol the town/house areas, they just sit around the house all day.

ok, sorry to bother you but, how do you dismiss a housecarl ? game found plugin and validated all housecarls.

I click on housecarl and no option to dismiss him.

Ooooh! Thank you! I've been looking for a mod like this one or something similar. The housecarls are nice, but it would be nicer if they were optional. It's always bothered me that you don't pay housecarls for their services, and there's no indication that they volunteered for the position... Not being a fan of slavery, I'm glad that I can now allow Lydia to stop carrying my burdens and go do her own thing.

Awesome, so now you've dishonored her, taken away her free room and board, and dismissed her to the local tavern where she will do nothing but drink all day. I'm sure she is much happier.
