Ok, so I'm adding to an old post, but I wanted to share a more recent view on what mod worked for me at Proudspire when I wanted a forge & smithing functions. I used Proudspire Patio Crafting Area on Steam which adds a nice smithing area (smelt/forge/tanning/weapons & armor upgrades) and a safe and it places them very neatly on the outdoor patio area (which is useful because you don't have to go to a load door to access it).
I'm purposely leaving all the homes separate for now at least until I finalize the locations of all activators to make them as compatible as possible with other mods. In addition, if someone wants to run a mod that is incompatible with one of the houses then they can still run the others. For example, the first release of the Breezehome mod was incompatible with Hearthfire and various basement mods. I would not want to force people to not use Vlindrel Hall or Honeyside or Proudspire just because they were not using Breezehome at the time. It's technically possible to have an all-in-one but I don't want to maintain two versions while I am still sorting out the best and most compatible places to put the activators. Harvey2112 is doing some amazing things with the next version of General Stores where you can place some of the activators in-game without needing additional mods, perhaps that will be more up your alley if you prefer to run fewer esp's
Please make a version with all esp files combined to one(except Windhelm's player home due to Civil War quest requirement..). I don't want to have many esps just for the "same" reason. Is it possible?
@Goatleash: I'd imagine that's because the containers come from the "General Stores" plugin, so basically every player home that uses the General Stores activators can use them. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but since they're in a lot of player homes using those exact activators that's my best guess.
@elGrecoLoco: Actually just wanted to say thanks for the great mod (and the ones for the other vanilla homes). Simple but very necassary "fix" that finally makes the vanilla homes a real option again. Will endorse once I can.
I'm not sure which came first, so I can't really hate, but I currently have "Build Your Own Home" installed (it's a great mod), and it has the exact same storage containers, just titled "My.... (scrolls, ingots, etc)."

I wanted a forge in my home too, so i used this mod:

After some "MarkForDelete" it worked perfect.
