@HiFiSi, forgive me for misunderstanding what you were saying. I missed the part about using COC from the main menu. My point was coming from doing it during the beginning sequence.

I did a test and COC'd to Riverwood during the execution sequence, and I ended up in Megaton.

    WTH?

"I did a test and COC'd to Riverwood during the execution sequence, and joshezzell is correct, your character is rooted to the spot and unable to move in anyway. Even using the command "enableplayercontrols" only allows you to move the camera, not the character."

Well isn't that interesting? As you can see from the video I posted, I have full player control when using coc from the main menu without doing anything in the console at all. So my game must have some super rare glitch that allows my character to do things that nobody else can do. Things like walking and jumping and swinging a weapon.

People use COC from the main menu ALL THE TIME for testing out mods. If you cannot move after doing it, there is something wrong with your game. Plain and simple.

"So I'm sorry, but it's clear that the author did not do what you said there, and neither did you."

It's the same thing. The same EXACT thing. Entering SStartingCell=Riverwood in the ini file and using coc riverwood is the same exact function. It puts you in the same exact place. It gives you the same exact inventory. It gives you the same exact appearance. It skips the same exact scenes and quest(s). And it causes the same exact issues, as B1gBadDaddy had pointed out earlier. The only difference between the two is where you're initiating the command.

"Hi. If Helgen is still standing (due to not being attacked by a dragon) then what happens to all of the "go warn the Yarl of the impending dragon attacks" and "yeah, I was there when Helgen was attacked" dialog trees in Riverwood and Whiterun?"

It makes you unable to do any of the main story quests or any quests that branch off of it, unless you have another mod that lets you begin the quests in a different way, or you use the console to get the quest line operational again.

I made this SaveGame by adding SStartingCell=Riverwood to Skyrim.ini file.
Type "coc riverwood" in the console at the MAIN MENU (not while playing game) also works.

The SaveGame should be an alternative.

HiFiSi, before you start telling other people that they don't know what they're talking about, I suggest you get your facts right.

I did a test and COC'd to Riverwood during the execution sequence, and joshezzell is correct, your character is rooted to the spot and unable to move in anyway. Even using the command "enableplayercontrols" only allows you to move the camera, not the character. Here's what you said exactly:

"They used coc riverwood at the main menu to bypass the opening sequence/quest"

So I'm sorry, but it's clear that the author did not do what you said there, and neither did you.

There's something wrong with your game if you can't move. I just did it to compare the results with the game save and i could move just fine.

When you use coc riverwood, the scene you emerge to is IDENTICAL to the first picture in this mod. It's the same location, facing the same direction. The items in the characters inventory are IDENTICAL to the items you get from using coc riverwood at the title screen. Like I said, all this guy did was use coc riverwood at the menu screen, saved his game, and uploaded it.

But hey, thanks for the negative rep. It's always enjoyable to have your posts downvoted by someone who has no clue what they are talking about. Cheers.

@HiFiSi, you are actually incorrect. If you had actually tried doing it yourself then you would realize that using the console to COC Riverwood before the beginning sequence is over (before the dragon attack) makes your character unable to move. Unless I am wrong (I have tried it over and over before), he did it another way.
