Just letting you know that the Unofficial Skyrim Patch has got this covered. Though this is still useful for anyone who doesn't want to use USKP, so thank for making it.
You are totally right about steam in my eyes, vipermkii. If it weren't necessary to play Skyrim, I would never have touched steam. And I will never download a single mod via steam, no matter how tempting. Control might be an illusion - but at least it's an illusion I don't need steam to diminish even further.
Oh crap! More of these things to fix?!! I don't remember how! lol, if there are any more axes with missing rings let me know and I'll try to fix them, it will be good practice.
What Steam is doing is just the Beta phase for a take over of the modding scene. I have one mod from them and that's all it took to convince me of what they are all about. If all mods had to go through them, then they would control all the content and could yank mods off of your system anytime they, or the publisher, wanted to.
Not to mention that the steamer is hard to navigate, it took me forever to figure out how to install the CK from their P.O.S. spyware.
Nice work I encourage you to contact with Arthmoor and have this included in the USKP (along with other fixes on the same matter...last time I heard, he was short on texturers and modellers to fix stuff ).

I have seen a few other axes that are missing the "loop" as well. The Nord Hero axe may be one of them, been so long since I looked can't remember.
I stick to the Skyforge Steel Axe as it has the ring and it's light and shortened many a Deathlord's day.
