Sure you could. What you should do is download one of the nice texture packs from Zira or AlienSlof

      http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19710/?
      http://www.slofslair.co.uk/index.php?page=modarticle&modarticle/id=629ux8cu9d1

Look through them and pick out which one you want and then rename it horse02.dds, then drag that into your textures folder. You'll probably have to create the right folder for it. The correct path would be Data/textures/actors/horse/, you would put the dds file in the horse folder.

Otherwise you'll just have to open the mod in the CK and you could change Karinda to the Markarth or Riften horse that way.

Has anyone ever come across the Skyrim Karinda? Weird thing happened while I was playing the game yesterday. I have this Karinda mod installed, my girl has been wandering about with her...she fell behind (because she doesn't follow) so I used the "help Karinda" code and took down her code, then I used the "placeatme" cheat to bring her to me.... It worked, she disappeared from down the road and appeared next to my girl and they wandered on. Funny thing happened later, however, when I came back up the road she was on before I used the cheat code - she was still there. I was riding Karinda but there was another Karinda where she had been earlier. I disabled the mod, went back into the game, and Karinda was still there with my girl, but she was a black horse. Figured something was really wonky, so I went and unistalled the mod completely, but when I went back in the game I still had the black Karinda. I assume "Karinda" is the missing black horse from Whiterun Stables, since it only ever had one horse when all other cities had two. So now I've got this black horse, Karinda, but I don't know where she originally comes from. Has anyone ever found her in the game? I'm worried about keeping her in case it might mess up some quest or something in the game, but I'd like to. Can anyone offer any insight?

Evessa, you posted long ago and I don't know if you'll see this reply, but here goes anyway. I was recently looking up some console commands and came across an interesting bit of info regarding bringing things to you via "placeatme". According to the authors, "placeatme" makes a copy of whatever you're asking for and moves it to you while leaving the original in place where it's at. They strongly urged that you always use "moveto player" instead "placeatme" because this moves the actual original to you instead of a copy. That would make sense with what happened with Karinda. "Placeatme" made a copy and, apparently, it reverted to its unmodded form (black instead of palomino). It also sounds like it remained behind and wasn't impacted by your removing the Karinda mod from your game which would also make a sort of sense because the copy wasn't part of the mod. Only the modified palomino Karinda original was part of the mod. I don't recall where I was when I read this - probably UESP - but you should be able to find it by googling the two console command phrases.

Great job. I love Karinda. I did have both her and Frost, but Frost kept disappearing. Whenever I need Karinda, she's right there. RIP, Frost. Karinda's my steady steed now. Thanks, mellowdramatic. Endorsed.

Very first thing I did when the CK came out was look at the horses to rename them. I found Karinda, too. (I'm actually the one who added the original information to that wiki, some of which I realized afterward was inaccurate.) I made my own personal mod of basically what you did, but without the change from Whiterun to Solitude skin. I'm quite happy to have found this, I accidentally deleted my mod and did not care enough to remake it.

I was going to make a quest to obtain Karinda, but I ended up being lazy and not doing it because I figured most people wouldn't care enough for that.

I love Karinda. I am sick of the other horses running away when you decide to mount a different one, like when you steal Frost. Karinda stays where I leave her unless I have her follow via convenient horses. I have no conflicts. Wish the other horses behaved as she does. Thank! endorsed, great job.

    Evessa,

Karinda is a horse that was never implemented into the game, so it shouldn't mess anything up unless some future DLC includes it.

Here is some additional information: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Karinda

Here is a quote from the discussion tab on the linked page above: "Karinda is marked in the CK as being 'DA08KarindaHorse'. DA08 refers to the daedric quest The Whispering Door. Given this quest also takes place in Whiterun, and the horse is in the 'WhiterunStablesFaction', it's possible this horse was supposed to be involved in this quest."

Yeah, it should just use whatever default saddle texture you're using.
