My biggest issue is it is a major city and there is so much stuff on the roads you can't ride a horse down it. There should be room for a horse to walk down the road without hitting a cart or a barrell.
Very nice work but Id like too see eat/sleep AI packages for the added npc's. Also there seems to be some nav mesh issues. Siguard will get stuck next to Breezehome and stay there. Also npc's walk over barrels and other mod added items. Tested this with no other Whiterun/city mod active. Fix these issues and Id say you got the very best Witerun mod on the nexus imo.
I'm not sure if I can add eat/sleep packages to the new NPCs because they don't have houses, although I suppose I can make them go to an inn. As for the navmesh issues, I'm pretty sure those have been patched thanks to the generous issues of one of my followers, but I haven't had time to test it. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
No need to apologize! I'm just a humble member of this community pointing out something I'd really like to see fixed in this absolute gem you have gifted us with! This is by far my favorite Whiterun mod for being exactly what it should be, not over the top, lore friendly and not unreasonably performance demanding! And yes that means to me this is better than better cities!
As far as the fixes go...having the added npc's retire to the inn or even the temple to eat and or sleep would be completely believable! I think all or most would agree with me there. The nav mesh issues in retrospect are actually not too horrible. Especially when compared to vanillas which is hardly perfect, but!...Maybe you could upload that fan/community patch as a beta patch now! Well at least until you have time to fix/adjust it yourself. Btw I think your fans putting that kind of effort onto your mod says a lot about your work ;-)
Finally I'd just like to say that you have an absolute fan in me and what ever is see your name attached to short of anything crazy like a terrorist manifesto I'm gonna check it out!
School is winding down, so I might be able to get some modding in over the weekend, depending on what comes up. I might be able to test out that patch then, actually - in any case, I will upload it.
Well, I have added a download for jiubiizeekk's patch. I haven't gotten to test it, and I cannot say at the moment that it should be seen as my vision of the mod, but the download is there for all interested.
The patch works fine,it cleared up NPC's getting stuck on the carts and clutter in the marketplace. I think your version of Whiterun is the best and I've tried a lot of them. Good Work.
Really good Whiterun! I really like the details, the merchant carts and cluttering all over is not over done, the flags by the market entrance are perfect! Hope you get time to do other cities, now is the best time for cities remake, since there is no more DLC coming!
Don't know why this isn't praised more...by far the best Whiterun mod about. Been using it since it was released and was one of the first I re-installed for this current playthrough and was surprised to find that it was not one of the most endorsed city mods by now.
Raztafarian: Thank you for your compliments - I'd love to have some of my ideas incorporated into Better Cities! As for any issues with the Talos statue, I haven't heard of such a problem before, but I could try it out and see if it happens to me if I have time.
I'd also like to add that I've tried EVERY Whiterun mod including the one to be included in Better Cities and I far prefer the work done on this mod, looks awesome with Summer Edition of Flora Overhaul and I think you should be considered for the Better Cities team!
Love how you focused on the smaller details (the market, flags, etc) especially seeing as Whiterun is supposed to be a busy trading hub which you conveyed better than anyone else so far!
I have a small problem with a CTD when looking at the preacher and statue of Talos after waiting. It COULD be your mod but I have a lot of other mods that will 'affect' yours so it's hard to tell without painful trial and error. Is this common or probably my end?
@ CaptainLhurgoyf I understand your concern about it getting ''redundant'' with the the amount of statues that are available. An equestrian statue in the exact place of the Ysgramor statue could work as well, but I'd personally prefer the Ysgramor one there. Besides, you could always consider adding a smaller equestrian statue somewhere else in Whiterun as well (near Dragonsreach?). Are there any other lore-friendly statues that could somehow fit into Windhelm (just don't go around putting a statue of Dibella, heh)? But I'm sure that whatever you decide to go with will look wonderful I really do hope that you continue with this mod....it is/was the best I saw changing Whiterun in a lore-friendly way
At the requests of others, I've started to consider continuing work on these mods as much as I can. I haven't made any final decisions yet, but I think there's a greater chance that I'll keep updating this mod, as well as redecorating the other cities. However, should I continue, there is one question I thought I'd pose.
Oaristys's resource pack includes an equestrian statue made from an unused loading screen model (exactly what I wanted - I had used a retextured version of said model in my WIP Riften mod, but it wasn't perfect and had no collision), and I had it placed on the ledge in front of Mistveil Keep for now. However, I got to thinking that it might fit better in Whiterun where the Ysgramor statue is now. I used Ysgramor partly because he founded the Companions and partly because Skyrim's statue selection is sorely lacking, but I also wanted to put his statue somewhere in Windhelm when I got around to it because he first settled the city and ruled from there. I'm starting to think that replacing him with an equestrian statue would make things less redundant if I get to Windhelm, as well as possibly being more fitting, since Whiterun's coat of arms has a horse on it. Alternatively, I could also put two in front of Dragonsreach on either side of one of the gates. Any thoughts?
