Bethesda purposely broke the sound file when people started complaining how cheese the original wolves had sounded..

I play Legendary Edition too and always wanted to hear the wolves howling. I hope this works... If it does, I promise to come back here and say it!

Well, as promised, here I am back. After installing this mod I played the game for over one hour and for the 1st time I heard a wolf howling in Skyrim. Sad thing is, it happened once only. ONCE! During over an hour of gameplay! :O
I hope the wolves howl more frequently during the Dawnguard missions at least...

Hello guys, I was able to convert this mod to the Special Edition version. You can do it yourself, follow these steps:

(Assuming the mod is already installed in your Skyrim game folder. Change the paths below to reflect the correct partition where your games are installed)

    * Create this folder in your Skyrim Special Edition folder:
    D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Meshes\Actors\Canine\Animations\

    * Download the new Creation Kit using the Bethesda Launcher (download the Bethesda Launcher if you don't already have it from http://bethesda.net/)

    * After the Creation Kit is installed and all files are unzipped, go to this folder:
    D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Tools\HavokBehaviorPostProcess

    * Create there a batch file (any file name with extension .bat), open it in Notepad and add this line in it (again, modify the partition/folder names to reflect where you actually have the games installed):
    HavokBehaviorPostProcess.exe --platformamd64 "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data\Meshes\actors\canine\animations\wolf_idle_spice.hkx" "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Meshes\Actors\Canine\Animations\wolf_idle_spice.hkx"

    * Save the edited batch file then double click on it to run it.

That's all, this will create the new mod file (wolf_idle_spice.hkx) in the Special Edition folder.

I tested it and it's working for me! I am so happy and relieved. One more mod I am taking with me to the Special Edition.

This doesn't work on the Special Edition. Is there anyway to make the mod available for the special edition as well? Thanks.

Thank you very much! I've only just recently noticed wolves doing the howling animation with no sound, so this definitely helps!

Thank you! I was going nuts trying to figure out why the wolves quit howling.
