Hello there, seems like a great mod to try out. Do you perhaps also know of a mod that changes the displayed armor rating from a normal number into a percentage? I never remember how much Im resisting, seeing a percentage would be so much more user-friendly. Sadly I have been unable to find such a mod as of yet.
Thanks for the mod so far! Been looking to get rid of that damn armor cap bethesta made and it really gets on my nerves especially at legendary.. Kudos to yah!
is it possible to make when you hit 567 = 80 %dmg reduc(like vanilla) but when you go past it it still increases on a very low percentage to reach 90 % dmg reduct when at cap? if you can make it it would be awesome
this mod looks like affecting npcs too(or it don't?), and makes them easier to kill since the damage reduction is lower than usual
This is a pretty awesome mod. However it does leave a hole for magic users. Alteration spells aren't able to reach the new armor ratings required by this mod for decent damage reduction. Should be able to patch it with an optional file that affects protection spell armor amounts and/or alteration tree mage armour perk multipliers.
@fukefx: I have been looking into this and I found that u using cheats. there is no way that with 100 smiting and 100 light armor u should get 1600 armor rating while I with daedric getting 1250 after cheating to smiting 175. I dont know what cheats u are using but they work realy good. besides its boring to play with high armor rating, I want challenge.
it's 100 smithing, 100 alchemy, 100 enchanting. enchant +alchemy skill items, make potion of + enchanting. This spirals to about 40% improved potions, use 40% improved enchant potion, make improved smithing/alchemy armours, then make improved smithing potion.
Boom, regardless of your armour skill, you've just stomped over the cap.
Between potion and armours you can get >400% improved smithing.
I'm not using any cheats nor glitches!!! Not even the fortify restoration glitch. I even pointed out that I had this on my 1st character which had absolutely no mods installed. If you don't believe me, I'll try to make the highest possible AR there is with dragonscale armor (I'm specced for light armor). I'll post screenshots.
Edit: 2150 without shield, and 2400 with shield. How to do it: 32% fortify enchanting potions 130% fortify smithing potion 29% fortify alchemy/smithing enchanted gear, 5 pieces total (helmet has alchemy only, chest has smithing only, the other 3 have both) enchant chest, gauntlets, necklace and ring with fortify light armor 29 temper all armor pieces to legendary End result: light armor skill at 216 (100+4x29)
Screenshots of my old character's gear (1643 with no shield): http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/9516/tesv2012021212212688.png http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/2554/tesv2012021212212412.png http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/2135/tesv2012021212212224.png http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/8908/tesv2012021212211961.png
And this the one I made now to "break the record" (2400 with shield): http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8409/tesv2012081014323178.png
I could get even more with a full daedric set, but I'd need heavy armor perks for that.
My first playthrough, no mods at all, without shield on Dragonscale armour I got to over 2k Armour Rating also : / I found the enchanting/alchemy thing, leveled, made armour and BOOM the game was suddenly waaaay too easy.
@eviltrain: The other mod said that it was to A) promote realism in the game by making truly high quality armors take minimal to no damage from weak daggers or arrows, and B) Make the armor rating make sense.
Now the way I see it, there's two ways to do B. Either you make a mod which gives you the 80-85% damage reduction at 1500 armor rating, OR you make a mod that gives and increased armor rating, so that when you do have 1500 armor rating the 4 digit number is justified by the lack of damage you're receiving. I personally prefer the second version. I don't want a mod that makes me invincible, but kinda close to it makes sense if I'm going to be putting the work in for a super tempered/enchanted armor.
I'm currently using ACE Combat Skills, so I'm not getting that much of an armor rating boost in light armor. What would be reasonable for a character using an armor ranked slightly above Dragonscale at 100 Light armor, all ACE light armor perks and max smithing with Dragon Smithing?
