This is a bit of a cop-out, but why are you traveling at night? I sort of felt that this mod would force people to find shelter or make camp before dusk ended.
It works for the nights, they are darker and it looks way better. Too bad the interiors don't change at all. I have tried both this version and the Steam Workshop one. Any ideas, guys?
I have been using this mod for years to darken my nights... still the best of all the dark night mods IMO! It is TRULY dark, but it does not look like you have dark-coloured glasses on -- your torches and lanterns are still bright, not muted. I also have ELFX Exteriors and it works fine. You really fear for things running at you out of the darkness! I use this mod with this for my dark, heart stopping dungeons:https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72594
It might come down to the load order, because I just tried it on my 900+ mod setup and it worked just fine apart from a few issues such as bright pine trees, which may just come down to installing it after my bashed patch and TES5Merged patch.
It's a bad idea to uninstall and install anything other than textures or meshes partway through a game. I don't see why there would ever be a problem uninstalling this otherwise, and even still, it's just an .esp file. I wouldn't expect it to cause a problem regardless. I'm kind of at a loss that people are reporting issues uninstalling it.
Use Tes5edit full load of your mods, wait loading click on this mod and look who others overwrite then you can make a merge patch or overwrite the other conflict mod holding and drag each conflict cell, you can use filters and scripts in a fast way if you are acquainted with Tes5edit
Damn, it got REALLY dark in Skyrim (and actually in all other modded places)! This is exactly what Skyrim needed. Didn't find any bugs or troubles using it.
