   When I use the race menu on my level 57 character, I level up once for some reason. When I use it on a fresh level 1 character this doesn't happen. How do I fix the bug of leveling up on my level 57 character? 
   Edit:
   My mistake, I posted in the wrong game, I'm using Skyrim Special Edition, I did download the SE version though.

      I had this too, downloading the LE version for my LE game. My character is level 65 and got a random extra level.

   If I change my face with Galathil from Ragged Flagon, would I still get a ShowRaceMenu glitch?

      you probably already found out, but no,  the face sculptor allows you to modify your appearences, not your race, wich causes the glitch
