I like it ^^ the fact that my blade doesn't look half as dull now, but as an optional texture, daedric from TES4 looked like it was cooled in blood, the color the metal was a crimson red, and it looked quite synical (no idea how to spell) could you use that color for the red, and darken the metal to give it a blood-rusted look, make it look like its seen a lot of action?
I like your idea for the sword, I had a similar thought with how daedric stuff is crafted. except i made a red and black retex for the armour and sword.

also im uploading more options right now for the weapons...more blue and less blue...there is prolly gunna be like 2-4 versians for every weapon.
