I will have to check that out for myself, but if the weight of a real egg vs. the game's value holds true, then what we need is a reset of everything to a normal system- Metric or Imperial. I vote for Imperial because it flows nicely doing the math from what I have seen already= Dragonbone sword is 19 in game, Dragonbone Warhammer is 33 in game, turning out to be:
3.5*19=66.5/16 oz per lb. gives you 4.16 lbs. for the sword; 33*3.5=115.5/16= 7.22 lbs. for the warhammer.

I for one think this is a pretty good idea and much needed in the modding community. That being said I don't think it's ridiculous that the weight system is so screwy in Skyrim. I mean you can kill dragons by punching them and shoot fireballs out of your hands so by that logic couldn't the average human carry 500 pounds around in that universe? In our reality, yeah the weight of objects and the carrying capacity of the player and npcs is ridiculous, but in their reality every town is within 100ft of a troll nest, a vampire den, a dragon roost, or a draugr crypt, bears are totally not a threat, and gods often show up and meddle in people's lives. At this point it seems silly to call too many things unrealistic when very obviously they are. Like I said though I think this is a very good idea. Despite the number of unrealistic mechanics it did always bother me that weapons were so damn heavy. Nice job!

Reading through the comments, you have no idea how ecstatic I am that you referenced the ARMA, as I am a member of that organization. As a person who trains with European renaissance/medieval swords and other weapons, it always bothers me to see the outrageous weights assigned to these weapons in games, as it does not come anywhere close to what they are in real life. Your mod comes as close to the reality as I have seen (assuming that ibs. is the unit of measurement being used), and I would just like to let you know that you have my endorsement. The only question I have is if you will update this mod to include the Dragonbone weapons from Dawnguard, as, assuming that pounds is the unit being used, the Dragonbone longsword is given a weight of 19 ibs.

Good point with the carry ability reduction. A real human being could't manage the "weight" that a skyrim char could manage, if we say 500 encumbrance equals 500 pounds. (A big horse could't manage this). If we want to make it realistic, we couldn't manage more than 80 pounds (weight most soldiers have to carry in our days). So large amounts of weapons, arrows and gold have to be carry by a wagon or many horses. (something that you could manage for a game)

    Sorry for my bad english.

Actually, I think "weight" in ES games is more like "encumbrance" from 1st edition D&: weight is part of it, but VOLUME is also a factor. The reason a gem is ".1 weight" for instance is partly that it weighs little, but also that it takes up so little space in a pack. That a six-pound axe may be represented as a 21-weight object is probably because you cannot realistically be expected to carry more than a few of such a large item. Thus, the "Weight" in Skyrim is likely exponentially increased in larger objects, and not a specific actual-weight-to-game-weight ratio. Probably, anyway!

IMO, Elder Scroll games would be better w/a system where you have to fit objects into a grid (like in Drakkan or NWN) or into slots (like in Witcher), so one cannot really carry 10 warhammers and 6 full sets of armor around: it simply will not fit in the space allotted.

Izos is right, IMO; a weight-lowering mod needs to be accompanied by a carry-ability reduction mod. Some folks also have gold and arrow weight mods, so one cannot be going around w/2000 arrows and ten million gold.

The problem is that Skairim weight is not true for all subjects. All the same total weight of the armor from 40 to 80 pounds and a person can not carry more their weight, ie have in your backpack 2-3 and more set of armor is not possible. By this change the weight of the arms while not changing the weight of the other things and the weight limit, not quite correct.

@dontdodrugs: im not sure what you mean, as a martial artist i collect weapons for training, and there's plenty of sites which do say the weights

    http://www.thearma.org/essays/weights.htm

if the sword was heavy no one would be able to pick them up

@U1849KA: i know what you mean, i remember these mods for the previous elder scrolls titles, most people who do the weight conversions normally use lbs as there weight guide, im pretty sure a mod called bobs armoury uses lbs too.

Checked it out and the only problem I can see is that a weight of "1" in Skyrim is not 1 pound. 1 is approximately 3.5 ounces. (A chicken egg in Skyrim is 0.5; a standard chicken egg in real life is appx. 1.75 ounces, double of which is 3.5.)

So, a Dwarven Sword of weight 2.5 translates to 8.75 ounces. I blame Skyrim's confusing weight system.
