Hello, I know I'm super duper late for the party but I have issues when launching SKSE in mod organizer. Though, it works perfectly when I just launch SKSE (Though I loose all of my mods for some reason)
Haven't checked here in a while. First you have to find if it's an issue caused by my mod or by Mod Organizer. You can try with the vanilla config file and if the issue still persists, then Mod Organizer is the culprit.
I hope it's the latter because I'm not familiar with mod managers and SKSE. The only time I actually played Skyrim was to make this mod.
Hey, ty for the great work, i only have 1 question which is how to get back the ambient light? I use RLO combine with sweetFX so when i use your ini i can barely see in interior, other than that this mod is great for low pc users xD endorsed
I've got no idea what could cause that in my mod. However, I found this thread after a quick Google search: https://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/611698195170936961?ctp=2#c610573009236450539

After trying a lot of performance mods and textures, this was the only thing that gave me a significant fps boost. I am about to upgrade my graphics card, and still plan to use these ini files (with some tweaks). My pc is an i5 quad core, 12 gb ram, gf210 1gb vram. My frame rate was below 20 in outside areas (Whiterun and Faulkreath) These ini files raised my fps to above 30 or 40 in these areas. Thank you!
Seriously, thank you for this. I've tested quite a few ini files and none were as good as this one for my particular system. I'm running off a pretty old laptop with an older video card(or graphics, not sure) and this somehow made the game run at 18-20 FPS at worst and jumps to an average of 30-40 while keeping 50+ in those smaller areas. I had absolutely no idea Skyrim could ever run so well on my computer. I only changed the particles back to 750 so my spells don't look like decorative tissues, other than that it's the best ini files I've used yet. Thanks a lot, endorsed.
Thank you for your feedback and for the endorsement!
I've tested a few INIs as well and none were satisfying enough or specifically made for low-end computers, that's why I decided to make my own and publish it here while doing research on the internet to document as many settings as possible.
I set particles to 10 so that you still have particle effects while gaining maximum performance. I had put it to 0 in a previous version but it was completely disabling fire effects and that's not what we want :p.
Anyway, this config should be considered as a template that users can tweak to their liking and adapt to their computer.
Hey, I was wondering, which of the options controlled textures? I wanted to use these settings with medium textures, the smearing is starting to get to me after playing other games. XP I actually tried vanilla low settings with medium textures, even that had almost no performance impact, so this config combined with medium textures would be nice.
Edit: Oh, nevermind I found it. You just go to:
[Display] iTexMipMapSkip=0
0 is High, 1 is Medium, 2 is Low. I'm glad it's so easy to change the textures, now I can play with these settings with low/medium/high texture settings. Already tested and it looks great and continues to play well. Once again, thanks for this configuration.^^
Thanks! I had some shadow flickering that was really bugging me so I modified the ini and ended up with 7 FPS! So I ran this and am now getting 31. Of course everything isn't perfect but I'll tweak here and there perhaps but it looks good enough for now. We shall see what night does though haha, thanks again
What are your computer specs? If you're getting 31fps, then you'll probably have occasional drops to 20fps. Did you set the INI files as read-only (as recommended) and are you running the game in 640x480?
When I was making this config, it was on my old laptop (RIP) where I was getting 40-45fps on average with occasional drops to 25-30fps.
If you want to improve your framerate even more (at the cost of very ugly textures), you can try increasing the value of the following setting in SkyrimPrefs.ini :
[Display] ;sets texture quality, possible values are 0/1/2/3/4 (3 and 4 are hidden values) which stand for high/medium/low/very low/extremely low (default is 1) iTexMipMapSkip=2
I don't how many FPS I was running before this, but it wasn't pretty, even with mods like HiAlgo and ENBooster. Now the game runs flawlessly. I'll happily trade the lowered graphics for a chance to play, since I care more about Skyrim's gameplay than it's graphics, so this is perfect.
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. But I will find you. And I will endorse you.

Let me know if that fixes the issue.

fBlockLevel1Distance=500.0000

Or this setting :
fLODFadeOutMultSkyCell=1.0000
All of those are in SkyrimPrefs.ini.
