You say not to kill it before your first dragon fight, but...you don't get to fight your first dragon, in the vanilla game, until after you go to Bleak Falls Barrow...so I'm scratching my head a bit at that one.
Tested it on a new game. Thankfully it's not game-breaking at all.
Took me one hour (yes, one full IRL hour!) to kill him @ Lvl 2. Mirmulnir was a piece of cake after that.
Couple of things to know: -The dragon respawns when the cell respawns. -He does give you a dragon soul, which means you can unlock "Fus" as soon as you learn it. -Mirmulnir doesn't give you a soul (visually he does, but it doesn't add to your dragon souls count). -The main quest is left intact.
Thanks! I'm actually working on a script to only get him to appear after Mirmulnir is dead.This was actually just a quick fix.
I don't find any part of Skyrim or any mod on the nexus useful. I do find them fun however ">
Request: I need confirmation on something if you guys are willing to help, if you haven't killed your first dragon yet will you please go to BFB and see what happens if you kill a dragon prematurely? Another Request: This one if for all you level 50 guys, will you please disable this mod and see if he is still there? I have this slight suspicion that he is already in the game but only at a high level.
Thanks for all the positive comments people, I might expand this a little by adding dragons at different spots where they seemed missing if interest is sufficient.
@Darkanen: It's for the nostalgics among us. Those who remember this dragon from the original Skyrim trailer and the E3 gameplay demo.
Plus it's one hell of a challenge. Because now you need to fight a goddamn dragon before you can enter Bleak Falls Barrow. And if you're playing the game "right", you should be level 1 when you do so. Holy hellfire.
I don't think it technically breaks the game. Since you haven't learned any words of power yet, I think it just adds 1 dragon soul to your inventory.
I play with a mod called immediate dragons, it lets dragons appear before the main quest and it never screwed up anything for me. I dont see why it should be different with this.

Leave him initially disabled and find lvlMQ104Dragon in the Creation Kit.
Click add Script and come up with some name that sounds appropriate for your new script.
Put the below in the script.
Actor Property BFBDragon Auto
Event OnDeath()
BFBDragon.Enable()
EndEvent
Now save it.
Now make sure to highlight the script and click the properties button. Hit auto-fill all.
If that doesn't work you could try making a quest and doing an onupdate that checks for when the MQ progresses to a certain point.
