It is possible, shaders can be toggled on and off. You probably need to code the effect differently so it becomes more manageable. Otherwise I'm afraid to say your mod isn't very user friendly :/ good idea though
@Ravager, no it really isn't possible. Its hard coded into the game, I've tried custom enchantments, even gotten help from professional modders who said it couldn't be done.
