Absolutely rife with typos and missing letters, including referenced alias names missing words. (eg. "righ" instead of "right", "glogal" instead of "global", "HHorse" instead of "HHorseAlias" in one of the quest construction steps, &c.) If you can get past that and know what the author was trying to say and what they're referring to, there's a good tutorial in there. All steps are included, and they even have a script fragment that only requires a simple copy/paste to get working; the only real hurdles are user error and the CK being an unstable heap that doesn't always want to compile scripts.
An overall excellent tutorial for beginners looking to mod in a mount that the player actually owns and won't wander off due to the inability to force script variables onto things via the console. 8/10
And I returned to download this again because I lost my original and i added another hostler to another mod. This time he sells 2 different named horses that was super easy to do. If I could endorse again I would, Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial.
If this is the same tutorial as the one posted in the wiki, then it worked flawlessly for me. I used the altmer hostler at Windhelm, and it worked perfectly in my DovKroniid Redoubt Mod. Thanks!! I would never have been able to figure it out on my own.
Im glad you got it all working jet, sorry for the lack of response. RL getting in the way, but I'm back now. Regarding the horse cost problem. It should display whatever is specified in the global as a number. The reason why it wasn't working was because it should have been <global=...>, I must have put in a spelling mistake, it wasn't meant to be glogal. Sorry about that mate
I decided to use the vanilla dialogue so the Hostler has a voice when selling. I used a backup hostler from Riften stables who uses the MaleYoungEager voice, figured most would never use him to buy a horse. So if anyone wants to do like i did here is a list of the text and the .fuz file it goes with...

OK problem was i was missing a file for some unknown reason. had to delete local content for the CK and reinstall it. then do the quest all over again so it would be all new scripts.
He wasn't saying anything in my game is there a voice type that has the correct dialogue or a reference tutorial for linking the sound files to the quest?
Also the "How about...<Glogal=HHHorseCost> gold" will show exactly that in the game. so this needs to be clarified for others to insert the amount of gold and not <Glogal=HHHorseCost>. i copied and pasted and didn't think to edit that line to match the amount.
only problem i am having so far is the ;;; to make a script. ctrl+s and it compile failed.
"Now in the papyrus section, undere the begin part click on the "Edit" button, add ";;;" then ctrl+s to save."
Is it normal for the compile to fail then give an error when you go to edit it?

Once I try to compile and get an error, I get an error when i try to edit the created script to add the properties. I can add a property and get a compile arroe but the property does not show anywhere and I cannot edit it.
Sorry haven't gotten my hostler into the mod yet, i wasn't even sure if I would have one in it but it looks like I will be adding some custom horses. and a hostler. but from what i saw so far it looks like easy to follow instructions and the example file helps.
