Still one of the classic mods that's aged well since it was made. Use this via Steam Community, checked here to see if any further updates had been made since I've only reinstalled Skyrim about 2 years ago. Adds so much more to the base game that (while I've never played Marrowind or Oblivion) clearly had to be taken out for whatever reason.

It's nice to see someone who appreciates actual role-playing. But as for your conclusion that it somehow 'had' to be taken out of the base-game:

It's more likely to assume that Bethesda had more interest in creating a cheaply mass produced 'product' that would sell to a younger generation that had nothing to compare it to then they did in appealing to long-time RPG fans.

So no: key role-playing elements didn't 'have' to be taken out of the formula: Todd and Emil just did it to save time.

Also: if you want to increase the roleplay potential, Beelzeboss character traits is what you're looking for as well.

I wish there were a way to make some of the class-specific bonuses available to the custom class creation.

I am having a problem with this mod.Look at the movie for The Elder Scrolls online. You have the breton right. He is light armored an some places wears some heavy armor. But in one video. hes wearing light armor. using a 1 handed sword an casting a shadow summons. Now looking at ESO it describes Breton

The Daggerfall Covenant The racial Skills of the Bretons reflect their affinity with spellcraft an sword play. Giving them bonuses to magicka , spell resistance, light armor, and conjuration magic.

Now normally it says Bretons are normally Sorcerers, Templar Which you do not have on this list. and Battlemages.

OK.Battlemages use 1 handed an two handed right? The same as Templars. But it says here 1 handed. OK. Here is my problem. So what is a Spellsword? Because basically they are completely identical. Except the Spellsword uses heavy armor. Which makes little sense. An if you where confused by that. It gets worse.

OK let me pull up the Battlemage. https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Battlemage
OK now after reading that. Would not the Battlemage be gaining a benefit to Summoning and Reanimation? Not benefit with having 1hand weapon. They do not wear armor? So they aren't close range? I am pretty sure that says. Wizard Warrior. Meaning they are close range.

Look at Sorcerer. They use Heavy Armor? OK i think something got lost in translation here. I have never known Sorcerers wearing battle armor. heavy Armor remotely. https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Sorcerer_(Oblivion) This right here. Is wrong. Incorrect. Because of this page. https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Sorcerer
Only in the (Oblivion) description does it ever refer to Sorcerer wearing any types of armor. Someone goofed. Can you fix that please.

SpellSwords and Battlemages wore Heavy armor Now mind you i hear this based on this Spellbinder armor.
    https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/21228
Yet i cant find a picture of Jagar Tharn Battlemage wearing this armor in TES Arena. What this is telling me. Battlemages would probably get benefits from wearing armor. An thats where the Heavy armor benefit would go. Also so would this stand for SpellSwords. One would get improved skills with 1hand weapon an the other Battlemages would get the conjuration benefit.

Now when it comes down to Sorcerers can you remove that heavy armor benefit an make it something else.Because they are pure distance combat. Not close range.

Sorcerers have used heavy armor since morrowind, scrub. Just bc your preconcieved notions of what a sorcerer is doesnt jive with elder scrolls lore doesnt make them wrong, it makes you wrong

The Telvanni in near full daedric armor, for one. So pull your head out of the gaping maw you call an ass and actually look at the established lore within Elder Scrolls before you whinge about something "not being lore-friendly" like an overly opinonated twaffle that should have researched previous games before posting :)

OMG! Where! Fart Lord ! Where cant i find this info! HA HA HA! I`m loving this.
You have to back it up with proof. I cant see in the past without knowing what game
or what version of a file update. Because nothing is shown. I am right now playing a
Witch Hunter an apparently people seem to have forgotten Witch hunters where
      proficient in leather Armor.

An apparently people seem to think they only used Bows. They fought with magic too.

TES3 Morrowind, Divayth Fyr, telvanni lord and part of the main quest. Also, point of fact, Daggerfall sorcerers used leather and chain armor.

Youre essentially crying foul when youve admitted to knowing nothing about this world's game lore.

      Divayth Fyr, sorcerer: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Divayth_Fyr

Sorcerers have utilized archery as a minor skill since TES3, so you again showcase your ignorance of previous gamelore. Do yourself a favor and spend some time on the site i linked, maybe learn about the games that precede both Skyrim AND ESO before you come back to b&@*$ about "heavy armor not fitting the lore" for sorcerers

No one is crying foul. I asked for evidence proving that they wore heavy armor. Which makes no sense based on this list.
      https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Classes
So scrolling through you had to think. When did you see any heavy armored Sorcerers in the game. Well in Skyrim. No. You don't. So why is that on the list of their abilities. An you proved my point. That some could wear Mail armor. Sure. That makes sense. But not heavy armor. I wanted proof.
      Because this doesn't help. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Category:Skyrim-Sorcerer

Not opinions not conjecture. Prove it. Give me names. An you where just beating around the bush until now. Thank you for showing me that info. So clearly there is a design bug in the Skyrim engine where they do not wear armor. Got it.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? Vanilla skyrim did away with classes, so you wont find any examples of heavy armor wearing sorcerers in vanilla skyrim, BC BETHESDA REMOVED CLASSES. Go back to daggerfall, they used leather/chain mail. In morrowind it was translated to medium and heavy armor skills. In oblivion it became heavy armor, with the removal of the medium armor skill. Ergo, any mod that seeks to recreate a lore friendly sorcerer class in skyrim, would make sure that sorcerers had heavy armor as a class skill

hey i did more research an i am thinking its because the two companies who made the previous games didn't make this one so its a bit confusing. By this saying. I am saying. They games are very different. An we cant expect to find people wearing the same gear like in Oblivion.

Yes i have contacted Bethesda on this subject. Where in game. You never see Sorcerers wearing heavy armor. Which as i said. Wouldn't that make them battlemages? I am waiting on a response on this. Because its very confusing as to the perks added. Because in one class you get a benefit from wearing heavy armor yet the other you do not. Why do Sorcerers get heavy armor bonuses?

Okay, it sounds like you're having a hard time seeing the differences between these. Let's look at oblivion here, mainly because that's the TES game freshest in my memory.

Battlemages are destruction casters with little regard for defense. They prefer to empty their magicka reserves in a barrage of fire and ice, then quickly finish off any survivors with sword and axe. If they need defense at all, they use Alteration magic. They do have conjuration but, at least in my mind, this is primarily for bound weapons, and maybe the occasional distracting minion for crowd fighting.

Sorcerers on the other hand are conjurers who combine magic and armor for their own defense while they distract enemies from killing their fragile minions. They use destruction over weapons, often at close range when enemies charge them. They are the defining "mage tank" class whose primary focus is on their defenses, letting their minions do most of the damage. They even practice both restoration and alchemy for healing.

With the Spellsword, you have to imagine more of a magical knight. These guys are lone wolves, combining armor with restoration and skillful parry to keep themselves alive (filling in the gaps with alteration), and using destruction to weaken opponents at range before charging with their swords. They even study illusion to help them "thin the herd" and fight effectively even against great odds. Unlike the Battlemage, even in melee they fight conservatively, using a parry and riposte fighting style.

Yeah i know but it bugged me. I had to know. Apparently they can use it but many of them wear specific armor like cloth due to magical properties.  I guess i had not updated this post. But yeah they do wear it. Its just not shown often in some games.

Thanks for this: I can't stand Skyrim's insistence on making every one of my characters a jack of all trades, as if they didn't do anything before coming to Skyrim.

Is there an option to make your own class, or do you have to pick from the ones given to you.

There is a custom class creator, it's not as smooth as a dedicated UI but it works decently well. The sad part is that instead of the special class perks, like the warriors 20% bonus damage with weapons, you have to choose +20 to health, magicka, or stamina.

Does anybody know how I can permanently alter the classic classes' class skills? I've been using this mod with the Vokrii perk system lately and there are certain incongruities between them. For example, Vokrii embeds its unarmed perks into Light Armor, which is not a class skill of the Monk. I'd like to be able to fix these issues.
