Yep, a breton is essentially a mix of nord and high elf, the consequences of the two races intermingling for so long when the high elves attempted to "breed" the nord out. According to lore, bretons are supposed to look more "elf-like", but this is Bugthesda we're talking about, so they look like nords in the vanilla game. ~_~
I'm pretty sure the nerd moment never ends on the Nexus, lol...
If you look at the Bretons of Oblivion, they look exactly like any other human race (terrible)
If you look at the Bretons in Morrowind, though, they look similar to the Bretons of Skyrim.
Slightly thinner and raised eyebrows, higher cheekbones, thinner-bodied, etc.
A Breton is not a "half-elf," actually. They are humans with an elven lineage that comes from a time when the Nedes were kept as slaves under the Ayleids. It isn't like when a person who is ethnically from Europe and a person who is ethnically from Africa reproduce and have half-African, half-European children, it's more like the way that African-Americans were kept as slaves for centuries and their women were raped and so what you have today is an ethnicity of predominately African genetic traits with traces of European genetics.
Bethesda just doesn't want to talk about the raping part. Rape isn't really a common theme in TES lore, because it's a fantasy world and there's no reason for rape to exist in a fantasy except that it probably did based on Ayleid-Human history.
thats just Bethesda being lazy, in morowind it could be forgiven due to shity character models... i wish bretons looked a little more elf like bit less than this mod
fun lore fact the bretons were made from the altmer mating with the races of man so this is more of a 75% elf and 25% human mod to make a long story short this mod isn't a combination its just making the bretons closer to there brothers the altmer
Love the look of this mod. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Can you please tell me which racial flags appear in NPC dialogue, if any? Also, which "voice set" for pained grunts do they use? Human or Elven? I know this comment is beyond late. Hope you're still active on Nexus.
to be completely honest the bretans in the vinella game just feel like Bethesda got lazy since in the lore "and I have the website up now" it clearly describes them as half elf half human so it feels like Bethesda got lazy and said well I don't feel like designing another race so lets shrink the nords and make them pugy.
I've had that brought up, mostly I just settled on Half-Elf because it seemed right at the time. However, I've really been reconsidering, and if anyone cared I'd likely call them Mixed Bloods instead. But Bretons aren't really "half" blooded either, they have more blood from nedes (a now extinct race of man) then their elven ancestors, from what I understand.
