What's wrong with this mod? It seems like every spell is set to cast on the player?!! It's not a target spell you cast on the thing that is locked. It throws the spell up in the air like an Alteration armor spell. I couldn't get lock or any of the open spells to work.
Equip the spell, then activate the thing you're trying to lock. A message will pop up prompting you to either lock it or open it.
From the description:
"By Request, a Lock spell is also available from Tolfdir. It works like the Open spells in that you cast it then click the door or container and select Lock from the pop-up."
Hey all. I used this mod quite a bit in Oldrim and was very happy with it. I'd like to use it in SE and was wondering if I can simply port it over. Does anyone know?
You probably figured it out by yourself, so I'm answering to let other people know.
The description of Lock Overhaul states that if you enable "unlock spell" in the MCM you will be granted an alteration spell that let's you open locks. So I don't think using this mod here too will be necessary.
I wanted to try the lock spell. Knocking bandits out with Sneak Tools, dragging them into a room & locking the door, but they just open it right up. Or is this because the enemie's level surpassed the lock? The lock seems to be set to my lockpick/dexterity level, maybe a coincidence, so can I level up my lockpick/dexterity with the unlock spells? How can I increase the lock strength if not. Just some thoughts. I know this is simply an added feature, but it would be nice if it worked, rather than giving the false illusion of security. Thanks anyways & appreciate you spending your time sharing your mod. Cheers
Edit: The lock spell locked the door at Adept level even though I increased my Dexterity to 100. Using PerMa could be a possible reason. Even with the lock 100 command, the enemy opened it right up, so can't blame the mod. Not sure how to do what I am trying to accomplish. I know I have locked enemies in before, or at least I thought that's what happened, maybe they were just too stupid to use the door I put them behind. Maybe there is something about my testing ground, Goldenglow Estate. I removed all items from the enemy, but it may be because they are scripted to have access to all rooms? I'll have to give this another test then. Damn those mercenaries! ha ha.
Pretty late response but if I remember right then most of NPC's at their current place don't need key to open doors. You can lock the doors and other NPC's won't get in or out except for those in quest faction.
I was happy about the idea of this mod, but it doesn't do the job. I wanted to be able to lock an interior door to keep a housecarl from going through, and spouse as well. Unfortunately, it seems that both can just waltz up to my locked door (which says "locked" when hovered over) and swing 'er right open, whether they're on the inside with me, the side from which I locked it - or on the outside. What's the point of that?
Try console locking the door. Open console (~ key) click on door, type Lock If the npc can still get through there then shes a wizard. ie scripting is probably teleporting her
