    Update: June 2014 - This Mod is Obsolete, it's functionality is duplicated (better) using the Skyrim Community Uncapper.

    Mod Author Here: Only returned to Skyrim (and modding) recently after a absence of 2 years! I was true to my word in the sense that once I felt this mod complete, I was going to leave it as is. It's been nice to see that some people have found some use for it.

    Anyhow, upon returning I've learn that this mod is now OBSOLETE (note: It still works and functions as designed, it's just that it's functionality is now provided by another mod that is probably easier to use). When I first created it, there was no other mod that could provide this functionality and so I had to construct this "hack" myself. As it turns out, the very same  Community Uncapper by Elys (that is recommended in this mod's description) has added at some point the functionality to disable any Skill's levelling. Specifically in the

    [PCLevelSkillExpMults]

    section, you have a list of all the skills and a factor determining how much they contribute to player leveling. So if you set

    fSmithing=0

    for example, it will no longer contribute to player leveling. You can also set a compromise (eg. I sneak all the time, so at default values sneaking will level me too much. But I don't want to disable sneaking contributing completely. So I set

    fSneak=0.3

    , to reduce it's contribution to 1/3rd of default value.

    Using the above you can both stop certain skills from leveling, and also pick a compromise on some skills and merely reduce the contribution, without eliminating it entirely.

    The only thing the Uncapper doesn't do that this mod does, is the ability to dynamically turn leveling on/off (eg. if you did want to gain some leveling from smithing, but only briefly). But that is a fairly niche circumstance and I'm guessing for most people the always on/off will be enough.

    The Uncapper's version is much more robust solution to this specific issue and so I've personally stopped using this mod in favour of it. (It requires way less work/effort to set up, many people are probably using it anyway, and unlike my mod it works 100% of the time without any issues).

    So for anyone who still stumbles upon this mod, I definitely recommend going with the Uncapper instead, as it's the modern better way of doing this.

      Honestly, the Uncapper is a bit much- could you maybe suggest an Uncapper preset that *only* does what this mod does and changes nothing else, allowing a user's other mods (like Character Creation Overhaul, Disparity, etc.) to manage most skill progression values? If you or another user could make that available, then it would really be a replacement/duplicate for this mod.

      Otherwise, using Uncapper requires figuring out what setting I want for every leveling-related setting in the game, which I really would rather not deal with directly when I'm happy with what I have except for worrying Smithing or Alchemy might level me up. It's kinda like a flamethrower for an anthill, you know? Sorry if this sounds lazy, I've spent plenty of time fiddling with mods before, but I'm inclined to live with the problem rather than spend hours trying not to override my existing setup while adding the Uncapper. Not that my problems are yours, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are others with a similar dilemma.

    I'm not entirely sure why since it shouldn't have any effect on the FPS or any graphical aspect of the game, but it makes my game lag like nothing else. Even on low quality on the smallest window, it lags so much the game is unplayable and considering without the mod I can play on ultra quality in full screen.. that's quite a big difference. I've tested if it was solely the mod causing the issue or if it was some conflict with other mods but even after deactivating every other mod except for this one, the game runs just as bad.

    Right! Thank you for explaining that! I just started a new character and was using this mod to slow down the leveling.
    Hopefully removing this mod won't bork my save, but the character is still pretty fresh, maybe I should just start again.
    Yes it's obsolete, but thanks for the mod anyway!

    Took me all night to find this mod, but I'm so glad I found it again.
    The most essential mod to my arsenal. It's perfect. Other mods want you to preset all of your crafting skills to 100 so they don't level (doesn't work with my Skyre playing, plus it ruins the little joy of crafting that exists).
    This mod allows you to run up, craft 12 or 30 potions and not level once or twice every time. Just great. Thanks again!

    This mod is simply amazing! Great work, thanks!
    Though, could you maybe make a standalone manual version? The current version always acts as if it's in the auto mode.

    I can't believe this doesn't have more endoresements! It's brilliant! I had actually decided to abandon smithing & enchanting because it was such a pain being underpowdered against enemies as I levelled - now I can do what i want to do in game without gimping myself in battle! Very cool :-)

    It doesnt react quick enough when I read a book when default "Auto" is used. Have to turn it "off" every time.

    I'd like to see a version where non-combat skills are seriously reduced and combat skills enhanced. Still, very nice.

    Awesome mod, just wondering if there is a way to change the toggle button to something else then k, as extra hotkeys also uses this to toggle hotkey assignment on/off.

    Now if I want to turn leveling on(as Im reding a skillbook or talking to a trainer) it also activates hotkey assignment on, so I have to cycle trough both settig 5-6 times or so to get hotkey off and this back on auto.

    If this has allready been asked/answered then I appologize, did scan trough the comments but couldnt find it
