I had perhaps the most incredible fight with Alduin at the Throat of the World. If it weren't for the mod I got that makes Spellbreaker into an impenetrable ward with no delay, I'd have died very quickly.
At the start of the fight Alduin summons a storm that drops fireballs. Pretty normal, right? Then he starts shooting blizzards everywhere. I've gotta use spellbreaker to keep myself alive since they kill me in like five hits. This is with a heavy armor build breton with Dragonskin active on expert difficulty and Ultimate Dragons. He then starts dropping ice spikes from the sky as well as fireballs.
tl;dr I had to turn on TGM because I couldn't kill him. I was dead within seconds. So if you guys want some advice: don't play this mod without some serious preparation.
I think its possible to remove those things via skyrim edit, i removed all the changes to alduin and other story dragons because it kept crashing at the watchtower quest and just kept the dragons that were added to the leveled lists
I've managed to convert this mod for sse, if anyone reads this and wants to try the ported version then i will happily send a link. It's been stable and working well enough to be considered a perfect conversion
Fights are cool for the most part but some dragons don't give a soul and some act weird, twin dragons one shot me no matter what and dracolich is very annoying to fight because of the lag the draugr cause
When I went to kill my first dragon, the dragon was one of the dragons that did not have a soul This meant that I could not carry on in the main story line. Is there by any chance make sure that the first dragon that you encounter a normal dragon? Thanks.
I see that the description of the files says they are the same except that one has the source files bundled in, but what does that mean for a non-programmer/modder/etc. like me? Can you please explain that in layperson's terms?
I too have never had any problems with this mod. Except for an occasional Illusion Dragon making 50+ copies of itself darkening the skies with said copies. My games crash after stuttering for a long time. AND MY HORSE DIES. But that has happened just twice in many play throughs. While I have killed many of the illusion varients they bug has only heppened twice lol
Like dude said check your load order. This game does not even edit that cell. Just checked. =p
I really did get bored of the dragons in the default game and this solves the issue pretty well!
Pros -Variety of dragons like Blizzard Dragon and Wind Dragon who have unique spells make for exciting battles and makes dragon hunting more fun, because you don't know exactly what you'll find on top of their lairs. -Eliminates the predictive pattern of dragons.
Cons -Some of the magic spells are very unbalanced. As a dark elf with no magic protection, I find that I can combat fire-breathing dragons really easily but the ice dragons kill me INSTANTLY, making it nearly impossible to fight Alduin unless I hid behind the wall and temporarily reduced the game's difficulty level. The culprit is this barrage of exploding ice that the dragons sometimes send your way, and unless you run away as fast as possible, you'll be hit and killed with just one barrage. -The mod promised that Alduin would be easier but actually it made fighting him into a bloody nightmare, as explained above. -One of the dragons did not give me a soul. I forget which one but it was one of your mod's dragons.
I paired this mod with a colorful dragon texture replacement mod, and together they work pretty well.
Please make sure that the dragon powers are more balanced so that the fire is not easy and the ice is not freaking impossible to survive against. Endorsed.
For the Dragon power, the counterbalance is Magical items, mix and match enchantments on armor, rings, amulet, and weapons, plus some sidekicks will help, either 1 or the 100 follower count. Or a basic team, healer, archer, mage, a couple of fighters, mix and match as you see fit, unless you play as wonder woman, team is the way to go.
To people with problems with the ILLUSION DRAGON. Go into tes edit and remove it. Very simple. I finaly decided to do this myself. Just a quick right click and remove.

Needs a bit more polish
This mod causes a CTD north of Battle-Born Farm. I believe it's due to a conflict with USLEEP, a much more essential mod anyway...
If you want to choose between Dragons Diversified and USLEEP, make the right choice. DO NOT INSTALL THIS!
