I have been using this specific mod in the portable version that it is, and it is amazingly awesome. Works like a charm. I have 60 mods installed with it so far. Complex ones with loose files, self-contained ones as BSA, and its great. Lightweight, zero installation to do with it. Why would any of you say this does NOT WORK after all these years, when it does?! I will continue to add mods using this specific manager. This mod manager has not once crashed on me.
In fact, here is HOW I use it:
1) Copy Skyrim Mod Manager Lite into the same directory as TESV.exe (the root directory of the game) 2) Instead of using directories to drag and drop onto this program, I simply added all of my mods to exactly where they should go manually (which is \data\) 3) Add ONE MOD at a time, and once the single mod is in the place it should be, launch this mod manager. Afterwards, load the game, and then exit. 4) Keep ALL of your mods below the base files in the list shown. Mods not enabled will be shown as a gray entry, and usually will show up at the Number 1 top of the list spot. This is an incorrect place for new mods to go. New mods go below the base mods the game uses. Once you have the mod in the specific load order position, double-clicking the mod will turn it from a gray entry, to a black entry. When the text is black, it is enabled. 5) If the author of the mod tells you the mod load order specifically, please listen and do as the author of the mod instructs you to do.
That's all you have to do. This specific mod manager TELLS you to install all of your mods manually. So if you do not know how to do this specific thing, this is not the mod manager for you. Moving mods to whatever order you like is a simple drag and drop inside of the program menu itself.
The author of this program perhaps does not quite understand how amazing this program is. Perhaps, many of you also do not know. A program that has not been updated in years, but works magnificently WITHOUT being updated, is ideal software. Proves to stand the test of time without frivolous updates.
I find it disheartening to see so much misinformation being spread on the Nexus. This program is rock solid and ideal for those that ALWAYS installed mods manually, which IMHO is always the best way to install a mod.
To all those that got scared off with the pop-up warning. Maybe the mod author put that warning in there so he would not get sued. We all know use of any mod manager is at our own risk. The pop-up warning has no meaning, when the software works, and has never stopped working as it was intended, for years, without frivolous 'updates'.
Attempting to add a picture here: (attempt failed since it is a local screenshot showing my installed mods and the order they are in and I dislike going to another web site to upload a pic there just to show it here)
In closing. I have noticed several individuals claiming some mods do not work, but they do. Noticing several individuals saying programs do not work, but they do. Almost seems to me like misinforming people is being done on purpose. To the author of this great and light-weight piece of software, I would say congratulations. The best thing I could suggest to those of you that cannot figure out how to make this software work? You need to have all the necessary libraries installed (.NET Framework 3.5 and 4.x, MSXML Core, XNA 4.0, several other runtime libraries that supports the .NET Framework, and more). All of those libraries I listed are required for programs to work. I have installed tons of VB runtimes because I use some older software that was written in VB. Whatever the language used to make this mod manager, you need to support that software with the runtime libraries and Framework(s) that was used to write the program. This software is great for advanced modders that already know how to manually install mods. For those of you wanting an automated process, there are other managers already waiting for you to download and install.
This mod should really be taken down from the site. Too many people don't read the description and will not notice that the file has not been updated in almost 3 years. If this doesn't kill your game/save you are lucky.
Don't worry, there is nothing you can do with it that would mess up your game, well, you could probably mess up your load order, but it is easy to correct.
Ran through Virus Total - ONE hit out of 53 - just one is always a false positive. Not a virus. However, this program is no longer supported by the author and is kind of old. I recommend using a more up to date manager. Bben46
Indeed, it is not wise to use a tool that have not been updaed for more then two years. xD
Anyway, i have uploaded a new version on fallout 3 nexus, i am not going to upload it here because i don't have means to test if it still works with skyrim, but if you feel lucky, you can try it yourself. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21495/
Upon starting this mod a message pops out saying "...The author do not take ANY responcibity for any possible damages caused by this application" Well this brings up a question: what's the point of making a mod that probably won't work correctly?
Had you not noticed yours was first post in over a year, this manager is totally broken and will not work it's not been updated since 2012, avoid this like the plague, it's no longer supported at all. Managers are complex and need at the very least updating with Skyrim updates, this has not been Done for at least v1.9 and Dragonborn.

Super confused, I tried putting the new Apachii Hair Retexture mod in it and it installed but I don't think I did it right. I put the mod manager in a folder next to the Skyrim folder, not in it, I use Steam for Skyrim, I made a data folder within the mod folder, put the mod I wanted in the data folder and installed the folder into the manager. It didn't show up in the data files when I opened Skyrim, what is wrong!!
