Blah. Looks like the previous upload had the wrong .esp inside, so the late model greatsword wasn't actually available. So now I've actually uploaded the correct one. Also includes the later mesh tweaks that were published only on Steam previously.
Hey! I am an avid HEMAist and study montante extensively, so thank you SO much for adding this here :D My game has never felt so good. Personally tweaking my Engarde and Requiem and Immersive Citizens to be as close as I have managed to get to HEMA in this game, and your weapons really, really cap it off.
I only have one issue: The montante with the parrying hooks is nowhere to be found. What should I do to check? Ive tried typing in "help zw" into the console, but that only pulls up the two original zwei's. I tried typing in "help montante" but it doesnt pull it up. Any suggestions?
Ah! Thank you! :) I really appreciate it. I had managed a temporary fix by going inside the files and copying the montante into one of the zwei spots, but now I don't have to anymore. :D Thanks again!
I haven't felt much of a need, to be honest, because Oblivion already has perfectly good swords. For example I love their claymore. Unlike the Skyrim paddles.
couldnt hurt to try + it would add some nice swords to it. i'd do it myself but i really dont know how edit: also, ive noticed theres some kind of mesh issue or spec issue around the tip of the blade when lighting reflects on it, as it leaves these blackish spots around it
And a new version is here to make swords great again. I've now added a later blade model with a diamond section and parrying hooks. Also incorporates the SE version tangent fixes, in case you used it in Skyrim SE and got invisible bits.
I installed the mod correctly and everything. But when I crafted the weapon at the skyforge, the handle of the sword was invisible. I could see the blade, but not the handle. What's going on?
As far as I can tell, in medieval German the word in fact was "Bidenhänder", and also "Beidenhänder" or "Zweihänder". Plus "Bihänder" for short. To me, "Bidenhänder" sounds like the oldest version, but of course I could be dead wrong. Just remembering vague things about the High German consonant shift and associated changes. [i -> ei]
Conversely, "Beidhänder" is a modern term denoting a person who is ambidextrous. :3
Most notably, I've fixed the size of the blade to have exactly the stated dimensions. I had forgot about the scaling factors in NifSkope, so it was 10% too big in all directions. Meaning almost half a foot too long.
I've also increased the size of the cross, since especially by the end, these got very big crosses. Some had quillons a whole 18 inches long. This one doesn't go THAT far with it, but still, it's more historical now.
I could add a sheath quite trivially, actually. It's not like a scabbard mesh is much of a challenge. But, as I was saying, historically these didn't have any sheaths or hangers. So while I see your point and it's well taken, I'm a bit of a stickler for historicity, when I'm not making fantasy weapons.
But you could try the (admittedly shorter) two-handers from my Arming Swords, or the ceremonial Zweihaenders from my Secret Of The Silver Blades mod, though, if you want scabbards.
Well, technically it does have about 2k pixels worth of texture length about the blade. It's just, the texture was made waay back, when my skills sucked even more. I should probably retexture it myself, but... I'm not all that fond of it any more, tbh.
Unless you're in it for the flambard, can I interest you in the better two-handers from my Secret Of The Silver Blades, or Arming Swords HD mod? Both contain two-handers that are much more accurately modelled for swords of their type. In fact, the Great Dane from SOSB is probably the most accurate sword I've done so far, with even the distal taper accurately modelled. Or the Zweihaender from SOSB is fairly close to the straight sword here, except with a more historically accurate diamond section, but a less historical (for a combat weapon) width.

Many thanks to HerGuardian427 for reporting it.

If it's not there, it probably means I screwed something up. Hmm.

Also, more blood on the blade.
