Have you seen the dye manager mod? Instead of making a ton of recolors of the same thing, you could instead just make one compatible outfit, and not worry about oddball color requests because the parent mod allows pretty detailed color mixing. Dye Manager looks to be a proof of concept right now, albeit a very polished one, because it's lacking dye-able content. Just one test piece exists for it. It's full of promise, but it needs people to actually make compatible meshes ...
THis is by far the best option for lore-friendly cloth equipment I could find in Nexus. Skyrim seriously needs new clothes, not just armor. normal people don't sleep with armor on... [If I remember well, in Oblivion, npcs changed their equipment before going to sleep~]
Anyway, I'm planning on using a mage on my next playthru, so yeah, this would help a lot. But leather smithing... I wonder if they're unenchanted, or if they require something else, like completing a quest for adding the enchantment. [archmage robes, college questline. Psijic robes, ancient knoweledge and so on]

One way or the other, I'm getting this. :3
It would really be cool if we had the option to add a reasonable (realistic) AR value to some of the robes. Just thinking out loud.........
I was checking out CRAFTABLE ARMORD ROBES-WIP by Xanima, and like his train of thought.
Anyway, I'm really enjoying the mod (especially the white, and the red Thalmor Robes).
