Err... I mean, the Type XV and Type XVa are here. You know, stiff, hollow-ground blades that gradually turn from blade into a nearly square spike at the tip. This kind of thing could go something like 2 inches through a chain mail even without braking any links. It was used to attack areas covered only by mail, not plate, like the under arms, groin, etc. Plus there is an early 14th century description about a fight in the mid-13'th century, where apparently someone used it "in the manner of a lance" to skewer someone at a gallop.
The non-linear distal taper to make that transition actually a thing, is actually modeled.
I had my doubts about adding this type originally, partially because of lighting considerations (which, it turns out, I was wrong about), and partially because Skyrim doesn't have the piercing attacks to do them justice, except in some kill moves. Still, some people seem to like them anyway.
Hi. I'm incredibly tired of Skyrim's generic fantasy swords and long for some more realistic stuff. There are plenty of mods that add realistic weapons, but I haven't found any that distribute them throughout the world to NPCs. If you could, I'd love it if you could make these replace the standard steel swords of the game. If there is already such a mod, please point me in the right direction.
Man, I have been searching for parallel edged swords for a very long time. Thank you! You, sir, have my respect. Beautiful mod. Guard should say- "Aye, now that's like a beautiful sword! Simple and elegant."
I am English so I approve of the effort... but... these are Scottish Celtish. The Celts CAN reffer to Irish, Scottish, Welsh or VERY early English (pre Saxon). but these gall óglaigh are Scottish. They all spoke Gaelic(what you call Irish) but Its the same as mixing Americans and Canadians in our view lol. Completely different countries (even if we are all tiny haha)
The gall óglaigh were Norse/Scottish Mercenaries which is where the name Gallowglass comes from.
Well thought out though(tho). Thanks for the effort
I love your Medieval Weapons, but the textures unfortunately are not up to par with today's mod. Do think you can find the time to update the swords and maces? Would be awesome!
