TESV Notched Pickaxe Throat of the World The pickaxe as it appears on the Throat of the World. Believed by some to be a reference to "Notch," the creator of Minecraft, as pickaxes are tools prominently featured in Minecraft. In addition, the Notched Pickaxe gives a bonus to Smithing, a skill similar to crafting items in Minecraft. This may not be the case, however, because Notch's company, Mojang AB, was sued by Zenimax, the Parent Company of Bethesda Softworks (developers of The Elder Scrolls) for attempting to trademark the word "Scrolls" as the title of Mojang's new game.
Version 2: Everest explorers
The pickaxe may also be a reference to the English mountaineers George Mallory and Andrew "Sandy" Irvine who disappeared while climbing Mount Everest in June 1924. Many search attempts were made to try and find Mallory and Irvine but were unsuccessful in doing so - the only discovery made for 75 years and several search attempts was a pickaxe a few hundred meters from the top, thought to belong to Irvine. Irvine marked his equipment, so the "Notched" prefix may refer to those markings.
Im really hoping for you to update it and add craftable version so I can put two of these on weapons plate. And maybe a simple replacer of all pickaxes so when you actually used it to mine it would show as pixelated minecraft one and not normal skyrim one.
It was pretty awesome finding this, im sure Bethesda would have gotten away with adding this because Mojang and Notch seem pretty cool. But im really bummed out because it doesnt work for mining it just goes to the regular pickaxe and if you have none in your inventory it tells you that. If you ever do update it for mining make sure it also works for the manual mining where you just hit it with a pick like in combat (its faster and feels more realistic getting to do it yourself). Anyway great idea
