About this image

Fiddling with the CIL settings in ENB v0.112 KAGE... pretty impressed so far. Took a little bit of work to get my settings ported over and looking good, but the improved shadows were definitely worth the extra work. Now if I can figure out how to get the most out of the new lighting features I'll be all set.

This looks very nice...lovely shadows on his face.

I see the blocky patches...I get those as well at times and saving to jpeg never helps. I usually hate jpeg for saving any kind of pictures. The compression method certainly isn't helping quality...and should you accidentally re-save it multiple times...not good.

Bot I don't think the patches distract from the shot...I like it a lot

Kharjo listens to your technical preoccupations and shakes his head.

I have probably the weirdest computer setup on the Nexus: a late 2010 8-core Mac Pro with a flashed PC Radeon 5870 driving a 23" Apple Cinema Display. The Cinema Display is a really good quality IPS display, and I calibrate it for print design in OS X, but don't do a thing with it in Windows 7 so it does run a lot darker. I'm not at all surprised that others are picking up things that I don't see.

Sometimes when I reboot in OS X and look at my screenshots I cringe in horror at what they look like with all of the Mac color management on.

Good, I was afraid that sort of glitchy stuff was something I'd have to be wary of not to cause in-game. My monitor is calibrated to perfection, which means I see a lot of ugly stuff where other people just see blackness. And gorgeous detail as well, luckily!

Yep, if I play around with the curves in Photoshop I see what you mean. I think it's just the jpeg compression though - going back to the original shot looks a lot cleaner until I jack the shadows way up in PS.

I see the "muddiness" too, but it's not too much. It seems the shadows are brighter than usual, causing a sort of a glitch. Perhaps if you lighten the image a bit with any photo editor you'll see what I'm talking about. Some of my screenshots end up with the same error; no big deal though... You've done a very good job in porting your settings. I hope mine to be as good looking as this.

Edit: My monitor settings may be different than yours, we can't forget that. =P

I blame Midhras. His constant fiddling finally drove me over the edge and back into mucking about with Notepad++ again. I thought I was over it, but I guess I'm hooked :-)

I'm not seeing the muddiness that you see Midhras, but it might literally be compression artifacts from saving down to jpeg. I'll never be a ble to go back to Tatsudoshi after seeing how nice the new lighting/shadows are in Kage.

@SamuDabu, I'm running a modified version of Jasmin's 4.5 cinematic ENB, tweaked to my liking, then modified to run with the latest ENB series v.0.112 dll.

Thanks, all... in honor and imitation of brother Midhras I'll likely be uploading some more test shots today as I work my way around the new options.
