I loved the shots... the music fit perfectly.
I feel a bit sad for Rathe... not knowing his self. What he really wants, and it is beyond his reach now it seems.
Will be awkward I suppose for awhile between Rathe and Jade.

Well that was one big surprise.... Quin killing Maven..... not that I blame him. About time someone did it.
But I think he is slipping over the edge of sanity. Reminds me very much of Cicero now and his babbling.

So many paths this story can lead now. I am sure you will pick the one that will give the most thrills and shocks.
Always an enjoyable time spent with your characters and tales

Damn....Qreepy Quin whacks Maven the Gangster....I was hoping it would have been Rathe who did the much-needed deed. ^^
Quin cut himself with her blood on the blade?? what if Maven had some disease?? He clearly doesn't give a damn....sicko-psycho that he is. ^^
He hung around the murder scene for "....many hours...." why? it usually doesn't take that long to kill and loot....

"Fleur had stolen away his heart...."
    Ouch....
Poor guy, he can't feel warmth for the lovely Jade....

What is up with that stupid ring?
Some method of control or a conduit for Boethia to control Rathe? ^^
I hope he trusts Jade's evidence over Quin's in the upcoming and VERY tense "trial"....

    Endorsed.
    Warm thanks and cheers, Dear!

Thanks hon. No, doesn't take many hours to kill and loot.... but what ELSE was he doing with Maven's dead body?!?!

Yeah, Rathe can feel Jade's warm body all right, but not the internal warmth within himself that he had for sweet Fleur. True love and all that.

      The ring. You'll see.

I near sat covering my eyes during the last chapter, it felt wrong to read it as he is being lured by Boethiah(who's luring who rather begs the question), and it's not Fleur who he stills loves.

This line really got me as he sat on the bed:

"Fleur had stolen away his heart…

…and he’d never gotten it back."

    And Maven killed?! Oh my.

    Cheers Dearie.

Felt wrong to read... hehehe, you're SO team Fathe aren't you (that's team Rathe and Fleur)...

Didn't see Maven's death coming? Good. Still have the ability to shock my readers then... even when you KNOW to expect the unexpected

Thanks for your comments on the comments board hon (PM you on FB later)...

Oh yes I am definitely on team Fathe.

I can't bring myself to like Jade, I don't know why. Even before the whole idea of Rathe getting it on with her I just don't find her a likeable person for me.

And Maven? Oh I didn't quite see it coming but that old crone has had it coming for her for a long time an all of the storywriter's tales!

Surprise surprise the witch is dead! I was wondering who would get around to killing her. I had debated Grim doing it but Grim had become too integrated into community stories so didn't want to disrupt that too much ... plus I have always had a little grudging respect for her. Your Maven deserved to die though. On a side note my plan for Kavel is to keep his story his own (any cross over would have to be more of a dream state. illusion, hallucination, or something that brought him outside of his own world) so I have more freedom.

So no warm afterglow but then they had been somewhat manipulated. Still I wonder how Jade feels - as that was left a little vague. We do know how Rathe feels and that it didn't mean anything, overall, to him. Fleur still has his heart.

Idiot why did he put the ring back on? I thought Rathe had more brains than that. Mysterious rings that come and go without notice, especially after a weird night with a strange Dunmer ... sad to say I lost a little respect here for him. Someone as cautious and bright as Rathe should have known not to put a ring back on like that. He should be suspicious at the very least.

Quin was awesome though and I admit at times I enjoy his character more than Rathe (note enjoy, not like - I don't like Quin as in hey he's my buddy - but I enjoy how you write him and his well defined personality. I definitely like Rathe more than Quin). He was diabolical in his wickedness and just so twisted he makes for such an awesome villain, even better than Boethia in many ways. The scene with Maven and drinking her blood was pure gold.

I can see lots of intense stuff coming! Good choice of music (they have some very cool stuff) and great images that fit the nice dark theme of the story.

Ding dong the witch is dead... oops. Lost my train of thought there yeah, it's funny isn't it that she's such a POWERFUL force in Skyrim yet so few of us ever actually kill her in our stories! Well, too bad. She had to die. But even I didn't see it being by Quin's hand in the beginning!

No, no warm afterglow for Rathe... or for Jade (see my reply to Lia). He's still too lost in Fleur to have the same kind of feelings for anyone else.

Ah yes the ring. I liken it to the One Ring in LOTR; one of those almost sentient entities that commands and compels. I probably should have made this a bit clearer but I have difficulty writing about sentient items and mystical things like rings and amulets (why i don't usually write them). This will be a bit clearer in chapter 25 or 27 (can't remember which).

Yeah I know you're on the Camp Quin team (you sicko) and I blame myself. I always write the villains better than the heroes (who turn out to be anti-heroes at best). I have to admit that sometimes when he does something (like the dagger on tongue thing) I think, that's so badass deranged it's awesome. So I get it. But you're still sick

Yep, it's all building to the End Game now. I hope to push out the next few chapters rapidly so keep an eye out.

Zack Hemsey music.... LOVE. Audiomachine too.

Ah sentient ring that explains much then. Somewhat like how I wrote the Sithis Dagger and its effect on both Grim and Mralki. They can be fun to do sometimes. So the ring itself is clouding Rathes mind I take it. That seems reasonable although even then one would think he might question things a bit more since Rathe has a very strong will. Even Frodo was aware of the effect of the One Ring. Then again Boethis is probably more subtle in her influence.

Well I like Quin as a character but I ain't rooting for him :p My hope is for Rathe to survive this. Not sure if you will follow lore or not - but if so I know Boethia can't win simply by having Rathe kill Jade. A prince can only claim a soul if freely given by the person - which means Rathe will need to be asked by Boethia and also inform Rathe who she is. Even if Rathe kills jade I would not expect him to take lightly the idea that he was being manipulated by Boethia. Even if he doesn't figure that out I don't see Rathe to be the type to worship a Daedra Prince. He didn't do that with Hircine and can't really see him going "Oh you are right Boethia, I am a pure killer. I guess I might as well be your champion."

Of course if lore isn't an issue than merely tricking Rathe into doing her (Boethia's) work might be enough.

Needless to say I am very curious to see how you, as a writer, handle the lore and the conflict between Rathe's personality and the sudden change in his core beliefs to follow a Prince (at least how I see it - as I simply don't see him as the type to be a follower. Of course I could have read his personality wrong in this as well).

I finally have some time to actually comment.

"b&@*$-Features" is dead and now Quin has Black-Briar blood in his veins.....epic.
And now he knows Jade's secrets and Boethiah nearly has all of the pawns in place to enact her master plan.

At least when Rathe takes something personal from the furs he only looks at it rather than getting a big whif like Quin, those two scenes by themselves are all one needs to see the difference between them. Probably not good that Rathe put the ring on that was mysteriously there, but more mystery for the future.

Riften (and maybe the Guild) will be in some chaos when they find Maven's body but they may want her back if Quin takes over. Excellent chapter and feel better soon

Hey, thanks for stopping by! yeah, I had to kill Maven. Funny, up till the last few chapters I had no idea it would be Quin who'd do the deed. Guess we all owe him one for that.

Nice observation about the furs; I hadn't thought of that!! It is a really startling distinction between the two of them! Love the way your mind works my friend

Cheers and I have one day of work then a weekend in which to relax and get better. Bring it on!

Oh, I'm sorry, Jess, all that lost time.. To be honnest, if it's too long I'll fly between the lines because I'll put too much time to reading and understanding your stories. If not, I'll read of course, but your image will always be good for me and I know each time it is a lot of work So, apologizes, and keep it up

Ah! At last we see Boethia's full plan! And the b&@*$ is dead! Another surprise twist!
And the ring appears, I wonder what the meaning of that was? I guess I will have to wait this time dammit! Well I'm caught up at last anyway!
What a pleasure it was reading all your magnificent work!!

That Awkward moment in the morning lol. Seem like Boethia's plan didn't work as intended...while Rathe and Jade still at a go at each other..he never really let her in either. Fleur ran away with his heart. Rathe still a man with his needs though..so if Jade wants the renew the experience he's willing though that doesn't mean he's in love with her. Perhaps one day, when the time comes he will reunite with Fleur..though there is much uncertainty when it comes to where Rathe's soul will end up. I am a bit with Nataly and had those wild thoughts that they might have a chance together lol. I'm an helpless romantic lol. Though i'm a bit curious to find out how Jade feels exactly in the current situation. And..where did that ring come from..thought he lost it a while back....smells fishy.

How much creepier can Quin get?...Well a bit unexpected to see Maven die..but then again I guess Quin just did his only good deed there. I was almost scared that this maniac was gonna do some very disgusting things with the corpse.. ( Just like I almost expected him to be sniffing Jade underwear at one point). He's such a psycopath..getting frustrated at not being given credit for the "planning"....that entire conversation with a corpse...He sure is creepily infatuated with Prince B. So creepy. With that letters things are gonna get really hairy...yikes

Amazing work dear ! Can't wait to see what happens next !

Thanks Lia! Yes I can imagine them waking up, locked in each other's embrace going, 'er....'

So I take it you're still quite on board with team Fathe too (Rathe and Fleur for the win) rather than team Jathe? As I said in another reply, I think in a perfect world Jade would actually be a better companion for Rathe; she's tough, she can put up with his bullshit and she's been around the block. She doesn't need protecting or 'daddying' like Fleur... and that's why he will never give her his heart. She's just not for him.

As for Jade, I think her pretence of scurrying off to go and get brekkie speaks volumes about her feelings. She'd rather be ANYWHERE but up in that loft with him having THAT conversation... feelings, it seems, are mutual.

I thought Quin licking that dagger would get you! Gross!! He's just King of the Nutburgers isn't he? But... everything he does is out of utter morbid fascination for Prince B. He's blinded by Her. Badly.

      Interesting choice of phrase, that...

Quin should be very careful who he mocks with his cruel laughter and even crueler words, he does not know his foes as well as he might think, the letter he read no longer reflecting what Jade had planned. Though Rathe may be unknowingly being led around by Beothia, it is Quin that is far more of a puppet as he knowingly lets that treacherous daedra pull his strings, that space where one would have a heart filled instead with shadow and murderous intent. He shows how truly twisted he is in the sickening things he did with the corpse of Maven, his amusement at her death, even one as ruthless and cold as her did not deserve that.

I suspect that the revelation of what Jade had planned will not have quite the effect Boethia wants it to have on Rathe, at least I hope that will be the case, what happened in their night together and his thoughts of Fleur on the morning after might temper his anger. I certainly want to see Rathe get his revenge on Quin, will make for one less monster in the realm of Skyrim. Yet another intriguing chapter, wonderful work, Jess

Quin is arrogant, which is why he mocks as he does, but moreover he is BLIND. Blinded into thinking he has Prince B's love, devotion and protection. I'm sure he will see the truth of this one day, but until then, it makes his tongue oh so bold. And knowing Quin, i'm sure he did a lot worse to Maven's corpse after the 'camera' was off him

That note will certainly complicate things (to say the least) between Rathe and Jade. True, they shared a night, but it's also true that his heart wasn't in it. And it was his heart that enabled him to forgive Fleur so many of her transgressions. Without that soul in their relationship, I don't know if he could forgive Jade her betrayal...

      Thanks for commenting sweetie!

Wow I gathered Quin was nuts... but daymmmmm!!!!
    Dude makes Cicero look sane.

I wonder what Boethia has planned for Quin... will he die at Rathe's hands, or maybe an altogether different fate awaits him.

Oh Quin's fate is sealed... it was sealed the moment he killed the innocent lad Darius at the end of Book 2...
