A great new chapter Alex! Personally I can't stand Cicero and was glad to see Kynthia kill him. The man is a psychotic killer in my book and needs to be put down, no matter how amusing he is (and I admit he has a lot more personality than many of the game characters - but I am looking at this from an "in-game" perspective versus an "it is only a game perspective" ). Still I know he is a favorite of many which shows how well the writer did on this particular character - if only all of Bethsedas characters were this well done!

I admit to be pretty biased though as I always wipe out the entire DB, especially Babbette who is one of the coldest and cruelest of the entire lot. Strangely the two DB characters that most people hate, Astrid and Arnbjorn, are the only two I like. Arnbjorn is a werewolf and some justification for his blood lust. Astrid I like as she wants to get rid of the Night Mother who is frankly the closest thing to evil incarnate around. Astrid is also a strong women willing to take some risks and run a dangerous guild so I admire her to some degree.

A clever way to get Kynthia out of the guild really - making Babbette the listener and connecting the NM to vampire was a great idea and seems pretty logical to me. The whole conversation with Astrid seems well thought out and on the surface makes sense. Still I doubt Astrid is the type to keep her word to its intent ... instead she will stick to the technical definition and find any way she can to squirm around it. I suspect she will be bad news for Kynthia down the road but not a lot Kyn can do about that. At least she is taking steps to get out of a very dangerous and difficult situation. I also do not trust Babette at all ... but maybe in Kynthia's world she is nicer. In the base game she is pure evil without a single redeeming quality. As soon as Kynthia cures herself she goes from being vampire kin to vampire prey in Babettes eyes I suspect. Also getting involved with Molag in any way, especially to remove his "blessing" is just going to end badly I know. If anything Molag would love the chance to dominate and break Kyn so I feel worried about this decision on her part. Better to take Babettes (or Ciceros) soul and use that for a cure :p

Poor Koen - utterly tormented. He has disobeyed orders which means he could be court marshaled or hung ... but isn't he just a mercenary for hire for Isran? I thought, now that I think about it, that he isn't an actual Dawnguard. That he is his own man that was just hired by Isran. In which case I would have him just quit. It might cost him some of his reputation but better that than his life. If he is actually a solider of Isran then he is far more trapped as he could face desertion charges among other things. He is already planning on lying though so not sure if that matters at this point. Curious to see where the story will go with Koen.

Enjoyed the more relaxing opening as well - with Kyn and Garm sharing some close times together - out in the wilds and just running and having a lighter moment. Kyn sure is trying to combat her blood lust and clearly Garm admires that about her. It was sad he had to stay behind a probably a good decision on Kyns part. Hopefully she will make it safely back to see him.

I can understand your Point about Cicero too well, especially taking into account that if you find him on the Road pre-Brotherhood and he asks you to get help from that Farmer; if you decide to instead get the Guards involved as the Farmer asks .. upon return to the Farm you will find both the Farmer and his Wife dead. So I assume that would be Cicero's handywork. And besides that "out of game view" of him I have that Comes Close to yours in Kynthia's Case he had to die as without his death her deal with Astrid would be even more fragile. I think she has no Illusion that Astrid will most likely break her word anyway; but at least she has not provided her with yet another Reason by leaving the Jester alive. I do agree that he is one of the better written Bethesda Characters.

I do agree concerning that Babette is among the dedicated and ruthless; at times cruel characters in the Brotherhood - even though my personal Favorite of the lot is Veezara; as he never knew another life. As far as I know those Shadowscale Argonians are basically trained in the Ways of the Assassin from the Moment they hatch (so to speak; I assume as soon as they are strong/big enough to carry a weapon) - so he never knew a life outside of being an Assassin which makes him almost a sad character in a way. But back to Babette - I think she would be quite capable of sending Kyn to the Molag Bal Cult in hopes of getting the Favor of the Prince for the "gift" so to speak - so I do hope Garm and possibly Koen will be able to convince Kynthia to not follow that lead - but knowing her temper I fear she might reach a Point where in her mind the possible gain would outweight the risks ..

Concerning the way out of the Brotherhood; it was almost the only way I could think of to at least temporarily get Kynthia out there alive - apart from the almost last quest where Astrid performs the Black Sacrament with her own Body - but at that Point Kyn would have done so much for the Brotherhood and would have lost Veezara to the Penitus Oc. that she possibly would have lost her Intention of leaving on the way. But I would agree that Astrid already is planning her revenge so to speak; especially as soon as Arnbjorn is back in the Sanctuary as she has nothing to lose at that Point; because everything she might care about is in safety. So there might be more than a bit Trouble in the future for Kynthia.

You are right; Koen has never joined the Dawnguard officially; but seen as Isran personally saved his Life and gave him a second Chance so to speak he feels like a member nontheless - and even though being technically only a mercenary in it for the Money he has worked for the Dawnguard exclusively in the last around 10 years - which in a way makes him a member. But besides that I doubt that Isran would care - I think a betrayal like the one Koen and Kyn cooked up is to him a punishable offense no matter if commited by a member or a mercenary - so either Koen has to risk letting his Companion do the explaining to Isran while never entering himself - or he has to hope to convince Isran at least for the Time being until he can get out of Fort Dawnguard which I hope he will do as soon as possible.

Glad you did enjoy the opening; as I think both of them needed a bit of a Relaxing travel

Well, it was surely hard for Kynthia to leave Garm behind; but still better than having him colapse in the attempt to keep up with Shadowmere or reach Dawnstar Close to collapsing - giving Cicero time to prepare for her Arrival or slip away. Even though it might be problematic as now she is on her own Close to a Major Settlement without any back up potions from Babette; even though I doubt Kyn would use them; knowing that they are nothing else but stored up human blood. So should she now lose control of her Bloodlust there might be a lot of Trouble in the Future before she can get back to Whiterun. Lets hope her Training with Verdyn is enough to get her through that - and that she will find another source of Food until she can cure herself.

Thank you for your thoughtout Feedback; glad you did enjoy this part

Thank you Kodlak for a most amazing tale! It was an interesting twist to have Babette as the "Listener" Although I doubted all along that she would aid Kynthia's in her quest for a cure.
I have doubts about the Molag-Bal cult as well.
Poor Cicero, good that this quest enabled her to sever the bond with the Brotherhood. But I've always spared the mad little jester.
    But it is done.
How long can her brother delay the inevitable? Will Kynthis find a cure before they come looking for her again?
Damn that Eorlund! It could wait!

    Amazing work my friend!!

Indeed it is doubtful that Babette would understand the willingness of Kynthia to "sacrifice such a gift"; and I do agree that a Molag Bal Cult lead is not really helpful. It could be argued that it is an attempt of Babette to punish Kynthia for wanting to throw away the gift of vampirism as I doubt mister Bal would be glad to hear one of "his" would want to cure itself. So hopefully Garm and Koen can Keep Kynthia away from that particular lead.
Well, seen as his wounded Comrade has already returned to Fort Dawnguard he can't mess around too Long without making it obvious to Isran that something is going on; so he has to get back there soonish. Hopefully Isran will buy into it and give Kyn enough time to find a cure or vanish from the Dawnguard Radar for good.

Thank you very much, glad you did like it my friend!

Wow, massive chapter! I read it over two days (wanted to enjoy) so sorry if I'm late in commenting! I loved how Kyn's was still in a good mood when she awoke in Alva's house, it's amazing what finding her long lost brother has done for her. She seems so less tortured and in pain. Koen for his part is trying to play the game and stick to the lie they invented but I've got my fears as to what might happen when he reaches the DG. Nice synchronicity in their travels; leagues apart but still close enough in their actions.

I was worried what Kyn's might face at the DB but it went better than I expected. Poor Veezara, I always felt sorry for him coming across Cicero and getting wounded like he did; small wonder, considering his friendship with Kyn as to why she'd happily take on the contract to hunt down the jester (aside from keeping in Astrid's good graces). Ah Babette. You write her perfectly with her little grumpy moan about why would a vampire want to cure herself?! But I worry about where this "cure" might lead Kyn; Bal's followers are NOT people to be taken lightly. In that, she's lucky to have the faithful Garm at her side.

Nice bit with the Night Mother and her insidious pull on Kyn's vampiric self. Very nice touch, and of course I adored the bit with Shadowmere; I love how you thought that mere mortals riding him might tick him off because he can't ride as fast as he would like to. Immersion hon! You know how to do it!

I have to say though, that I was very sad to see Cicero's end. I love that little fool (probably because in my world he's always lurking around the sanctuary popping up and saying something funny), but I can see why in your world, Kyn had to 'off' him. Great shots in the sanctuary and as I noted in Flickr, that final shot is awesome. Well done dear!

Thank you very much for taking the Time to read this somewhat Long part!
Glad you did enjoy Kynthia's somewhat lighter mood after finding her Long lost brother again; and I do agree. I think Isran is not one to be easily fooled and should he see through the lie they cooked up Koen might be in deep Trouble as for Isran the same is true as for Astrid. In a Fight the Dawnguard Members would side themselves with Isran like the Brotherhood would side with Astrid.

I fear that Astrid is not done with Kyn, despite agreeing to the Deal in that Situation. And I think an angry Astrid is a foe to fear. Babette's lead is Trouble for Kynthia for sure; hopefully Garm and possibly Koen can convince her to not go that particular Route; as I think a Molag Bal Cult is the last Thing she would want to cross.

Very glad you liked both the Nightmother aswell as Shadowmere parts of the Story; and I can understand why you are not happy to see the Little Jester die; as this was the first time I killed him off. But for Kynthia he just was too much risk to Keep alive; despite the possibility that he might have been a valueable ally should Astrid decide to break her word. Which I think will happen eventually.

Thank you very much for your Kind words and Feedback, very happy you liked both the Story aswell as the Images

Going to add a couple of kegs of my own to Liady's bri...errr... offering to Kodlak for more story. This was a good one, Anataron, really enjoyed it. Kynthia appears to be (for now at least) free of the Dark Brotherhood, and has a possible lead on a cure. Although messing with Molag Bal never seems to be a good idea. Frying pan to fire perhaps? But once again, she passed up a chance to feed (on Cicero), who was hardly innocent, and she was planning on killing anyway. Curious. That is going to get her into trouble one of these days.

Well, as I said to Liadys.. I think Kodlak would enjoy the Mead; but not necessarily be .. convinced .. to tell more if he does not feel like it Glad you did enjoy this Part, and I do agree. Messing with Molag Bal in any Way seems like a daft idea; especially as a Vampire wanting to get rid of "his Blessing" so to speak; even more so with the Temper Kyn has shown in the presence of People that demand respect. Got her into Trouble more than once; and would most likely end badly with Molag. Concerning feeding off Cicero; well for one she still was well feed from that Potion from Babette; but besides that she still is in the (false) mindset that a Brotherhood Contract kill is not a kill she wants and therefore has no responsibility .. while she has realized that this is not completely true she still tries to convince herself that it is - and therefore taking the blood from cicero would have "destroyed" that excuse more or less. But I do agree; with her ties to the Brotherhood cut it might get her into deep Trouble as now she has neither Veezara nor Babette's Potions .. so each time she refuses to feed it is not a wise move as she has no emergency fallback so to speak.

Great chapter dear ! Will Kodlak tell more if i offer him a keg..or two? .

Well it is good to see Kynthia is a merrier mood because of the brief reunion with her brother. To know he is still alive sure must of lifted some weight from her shoulder..though her search for a cure to her condition remains...as fear start creeping on her about her meeting with Astrid. Koen on his end is still trying to convince his companion..and praying that Isran buys into his story..to at least buy his little sister some time....while also wishing to leave the Dawnguard..so he can travel with dear Kynthia. It's quite the wonder that Garm haven't started to get a little fat now with all the people giving him food across multiple stories haha.

Well I'd say the meeting with Astrid went better then she thought it'd go..doesn't seem like Babette have any better leads as far as a cure for Vampirism. Dealing with a cult to Molag Bal sounds as bad as Falion's offer. And so she takes on this very last contract for the brotherhood before taking her leave from it....im a bit surprised that Astrid agreed to it..but Kynthia did have very valid point. I'm curious to see what the future holds for dear Kynthia

I think Kodlak would take those Kegs off your Hands; but if they would result in more storytelling I do doubt

Indeed it is a wonder that poor Garm has not started getting Fat; but on the other Hand with all the running and fighting he has to do across the board it is just fair to have lots of treats Hopefully Isran will be fooled; at least Long enough for Koen to get out of there as it could be quite troublesome should he not be convinced that Koen is telling the truth.

I fear that Babette's lead could be even worse than Falion's offer; from Kynthia's perspective as it might lead her right into the Hands of Bal. And I doubt that Molag Bal would be Kind to one of "his" Vampires wanting to cure itself. Hopefully Garm and Kyn can figure out a way to avoid going that particular Route.

Concerning Astrid; I honestly doubt that she will Keep her word for Long. In that Situation she had not much choice if she wanted to make sure that Arnbjorn would return to her and that Cicero is dealt with as I think Cicero would be quite able to recover from the wounds of Arnbjorn and get away if Astrid had not agreed to the Deal in favor of Kyn. But I think now Astrid will try to find a way to get back at her; which might be a lot of Trouble later on

Very happy you liked this Chapter and thank you for your Kind comment my friend!
