Perhaps something in the back of his mind stopped him.
I loved how Garm positioned himself between them and had them open their minds creating a mental link so that Koen could see those memories (As hard as they must have been to witness)
Crafty plan they came up with although his men must certainly have been "WTF happened?"
Who in the DB does she think might help? I certainly wouldn't trust Babette!
Can't wait to see what happens!!!
Thank you Kodlak for another amazing tale! Please have another mead. I happen to know some friends of mind will be bringing you some of the Honingbrew's finest. Get ready to tell that tale again!
Well, I do hope the companion of Koen doesn't dig to deep or he might remember that Koen stoped his attack which would make the whole plan fall apart Even though I agree .. it must have been very confusing for him
Kyn does indeed hope that Babette with her Alchemical Skills and her roughly 300 years of Vampirism has some idea that might lead to a Cure even though I do agree .. I have a slight Feeling that some things have changed at the Sanctuary and that Babette is even more convinced of her line of work and her Vampirism - as I never had the Feeling that she is in any way sorry to be a Vampire - or an Assassin .. while Kynthia wants to Change both if possible. Will be quite interesting how that Encounter will turn out .. or the one with Astrid for that matter.
Oh he is prepared for the Mead and thankful for it! As am I for your Kind comment my friend!
Somehow though, I don't think Isran is going to be as easily fooled with the story they cooked up as the other Dawnguard member was. So we shall have to see what ends up happening there.
Thank you for an enjoyable read, I really like you're storytelling.
Thank you for your Kind Feedback, very happy you do enjoy the Story!
Kynthia's honesty was quite a surprise to Koen but knowing her as a reader does it is no surprise, hiding things from him would only make him doubt her words when she is trying to prove she is no threat to him, that she truly is his sister. I really like that emotion in that part where Garm allowed them to share memories, that pain of the past striking both, it is touching how she holds nothing against Koen for not being there, for the tough life she lived, knowing none of it was his fault especially since he had lost his memories. Kynthia was quite sly in coming up with a plan to keep the Dawnguard off her trail for a least a little while, making it seem as if she has fallen to their blades, leaving parts of her outfit for Koen knowing she could easily replace them.
It is heartwarming how Koen spoke of leaving those of the Dawnguard, wanting to learn of his long lost sister once more, to keep hold of what family he had left. Looks like his sister being a vampire has made it all the more clear how the views of the Dawnguard are not quite right, that they paint all vampires as monsters though not all are, some seek to be human once more and the Dawnguard would not even give them that chance. A wonderful return of Kynthia's tale, a very well done chapter, Anataron
Very true, her only Chance to get him to trust and believe her was being blatantly honest with him; even with Details like her own allignment with the Brotherhood which could have caused some Problems aswell.
Would it not have been for Garm and his abilites I'm not sure I would have found a way in which Koen and Kynthia could have found the trust they now have in each other in the short window of time they had before the charmed dawnguard member would have either suffered permanent damage or kynthia would have had to release him. So I guess Garm saved the Day once more.
Well, despite her rather explosive nature when angered and her runes that do increase those tendencies she understands and knows that if he would have been there that day he would most likely have died with their parents .. so there is no use in blameing him for her life .. which was mostly as hard as it was by choice. She decided to go on the Revenge Path against the Bandits. She decided to come to Skyrim to avenge Koen's death. So while she would not want to relieve it the same way she is quite sure that it would not help or make it better to blame him.
Well, after all she was trained as a Assassin from quite a young Age so for me in a time Setting like Skyrim it is only Logical that she was taught how to get out of situations she Needs and or wants to escape by Verdyn - because to grow old in their line of work you have to be up to the Task of planning your escape in a short amount of time in my opinion.
Well, as Grim said on Liadys Calamity - Phobia's Tale - Part 4 Post.. the vigilants are only reacting in a way that is fit to the usual, common Response they get from daedra. And I do assume the same is true for the Dawnguard. Apart from Serana, the Courtmage in Solitude (always Forget her Name) and maybe one or two more there are very few Vampires that don't harm other poeple by Default - so the Dawnguard in a way reacts in the only way they know - the few that would not harm them are far less likely to come across them than the ones that would harm them or civilians. So in a Way Koen is bringing himself in danger by trusting Kynthia - as Isran; if he ever finds out; could see it as a deep betrayal and punish him for his weakness so to speak. Not to say Isran is too extreme in his ways; much like the Silver Hand are way over the top with their methods and Goals .. but still, it is hard to believe that some are "good" or "neutral" when the majority of a faction/race attacks on sight and harms for Entertainment and not out of self defense.
Thank you very much Kamikazekossori, very happy you did like this chapter!
I think both Kyn and Koen show that same level-headedness and coollness when faced with drama; the ability to see beyond what's presented to their faces. Their parents must've done a fabulous job raising them to have them turn out so thoughtful.
Had to laugh as I imagined Jonna going about her business with a vampire and a charmed Dawnguard member sitting in her Inn. I bet she dropped and broke a few mugs that day!!
And now there's a potential future for Kyn and Koen to meet back up again and both siblings to join together to search for a cure (that doesn't involve something as despicable as the use of a black soul gem). I really hope for a joint effort from these siblings to find a cure as together I think they could make an unstoppable team.
Great work hon.
Now that you know a bit about that - Thank you very much, glad you did enjoy this chapter as it turned out
For the Dawnguard Member .. well, even though Kyn does not like it to use her Vampiric Powers she had not much of a choice .. the other Option would have been to fight and kill the Dawnguard guy .. which would have made Koen most likely not trust her enough to let Garm into his Mind the way he did.
Concerning the mind-merge itself .. I think without Garm's help it would have been almost impossible to make it believeable that Koen would trust Kyn enough to help her.
Concerning both of them working together in the Future - well, Kyn has to deal with a few things first before she can think about seeing him again - and he has still to face and convince Isran So both will Need their ability to see over the obvious and try to solve things calmly. But I do have plans to let them work together at some Point in the future.
Well, I assume you are right about those few mugs - but I guess she had not much of a choice .. I dare she would have had the Courage to tell the Vamp with the Dawnguard Pet to leave .. and leaving herself .. meh
Thank you again!
Kynthia planned things out well and took a lot of risk but sometimes the bigger the risk the bigger the pay off. She may have some freedom now from the DG and she has her brother back .. so to speak. Koen also has some time to think about things and has learned a little more about what has happened in his past.
The whole scene in side the inn was nice and tense and well written. Pleased to see Garm taking center stage. I bet a lot of arguments could be solved in the real world with a mediator like Garm helping to share thoughts!
Nice work on both the images and story Alex!
Well, Kyn tries to always have a sort of Exit plan ready if the Need for one arises - even though I doubt that she had hoped for such a well-oiled ending for this Encounter so to speak. Both of them have much to think about; even though for Kynthia that will have to wait some more as she now has no other lead but babette towards a cure for her Vampirism. She hopes that the older Vampire might have a lead for her - so now she has to return to the Brotherhood .. which means she has to decide if she wants more contracts from them or if she wants to try and leave .. which might have its own dangers.
Very glad you did enjoy both the Story aswell as the Images
Amazing work dear !
P.S: Thank you for the link
Thank you again and very happy to do so
