The attentive reader or the one with a ridiculus memory may figure who the mention that surname points at, as well as the entry written in Friggas journal describing the meeting that transpired in Solitude so many years ago.

As it appears some are blaming Brynjolf and the guild for trafficking; they are not as they did not agree to it when dealing with the mentioned businesspartner those years ago - only to smuggle regular goods.
But they appear to be bad seeds as they are assisting Mama with this issue(keeping on the good side), while investigating their own case as well since one under the same name is back in Solitude but is not bringing them any goods.
I suppose it bothers me more to see some of the characters I like involved with slavery and the abduction and selling of young women - getting them hooked on skooma and turned into drug addicts whose only purpose is to be whores. Had a hard time reading those chapters with Jess as well. At this point Issac is far higher on my like list than either Brynjolf or Frigga, both of whom I have lost a tremendous amount of respect for. For all Issac's faults at least he hasn't fallen as far as Frigga and Brynjolf to support human trafficking. Even Rathe rebelled against that, one aspect of his personality that I always admired. Far better to kill someone quickly for gold then a life time of pain, torment, and suffering with no life or will of your own.
The descriptions of the city are superb and really show off your amazing writing talent - talent that you have in spades. I really felt like I was walking the streets with them as they watched the holdiay take shape and winter approach. It was very well done - all the way down to the minute details like the old high king and the mage lights. You really do a nice job of pulling people into the story - even without the excellent shots your words would easily add the detail needed for each reader to visualize what was happening.
Excellent chapter and well written!
PS - Much as I detest the B I have to say you did an excellent job of writing her - no worries there. She felt like Madame Zuzu
Brynjolf does reply on Isaacs statement that they did not agree to it, only to ship the regular goods such as black market paraphanelia.
- even if they are not along on Mama Zuzu's deal, they have also lost contact with Solitude so the have business to go; Mama is more or less paying them for the information, keeping themselves in good graces.
Frigga detests the establishment as is hinted from the way she moves while in there.
As for Brynjolf; he doesn't participate in the transportation of the girls, but he has no issue with visiting the Rose every now and then much like many people say "Oh I could never kill an animal" but they have no qualms to eat them - he knows it's wrong but he looks the other way.
But regardless - Oh I am burning the place down every time in my mind I see her.
I do like my details!
Thank you.
"Brynjolfs eyes were flint as he returned the stare.
His voice was stern as he continued.
"No. He might have been shipping girls but we only agreed to shipping the usual goods"
The animal analogy is also right on. Applies to many things. Human nature makes it easy to rationalize and look the other way. I don't care where these clothes came from because I want to wear them so I will turn a blind eye to the sweat shop. Hence I come down a bit hard on Bryn as he is supporting her (Zuzu). As is Frigga, although much less so, by helping Zuzu even if indirectly. Anyhow there is also the other side of the issue - that if they openly went against Zuzu then they could put the entire guild in a very awkward position, possibly a dangerous one ... so its a bit of a tightrope. Will be interesting to see how they (and by they I mean you) handle it
I am writing this from the characters knowledge and not mine, things appear to seem different to the readers regarding this issue; but still, it wasn't only trafficking said businessman was up to the guild didn't help out in -that- matter, but now they appear to be bad seeds since they are still helping Mama while investigating on their own.
I'll refer to the reply I gave Jess
It was great fun for me to read about ZuZu again and you certainly captured her menacing and cold presence perfectly. I could've believed this was something I'd written about her! But I am so worried for Isaac and Frigga to get involved in her schemes and plots, perhaps by having the backing of the guild behind them they might be safe from her should something go awry.
Love the orc bodyguard; such a no nonsense, brute that perfectly optimises the types of bodyguards ZuZu liked to surround herself with!
As Jon said below, I was a big surprised to find out that Bryn and co were into human trafficking, but your subtle clues weaved into the story really give an insight into their loathing for the Rose and its owner. I just think Isaac was more open about his disgust for ZuZu. A dangerous move....
Thanks so much for the homage and I'm looking forward to where you take this. It's making me want to write Rathe again!!!!

Yes I do agree, Riften could have been done so much better; in all I think Skyrim could have been made into a much harsher place instead of hushushin subjects such as rape aand murder - they are present but it's made to be friendly for teenagers, but still.
Oh well that is such a relief to hear! I was struggling so hard since I didn't know if I went with the right approach to her, so I had to stop several times before I ctually managed to scribble down her lines!
Yep! The body guard was a definite must!
As I've already mentioned; Bryn and Co aren't into trafficking, he does reply to Isaac's accusation saying that they never agreed to it, only that they smuggled regular black market-goods.
- but the same businesspartner had trades with ZuZu, who in turn trades with Maven, and popped into thin air a couple of months ago (One of my readers already figured out and sent me a mail hah!) and suddenly someone with the same name appears without continuing to provide; and as Brynjolf and Frigga were sent as ambassadors for the TG and the others those years ago;
the others believe they are the ones who SHOULD go and investigate regardless who traded what as they brokered most of the deals = but not the trafficking, they left that for the others to handle themselves.
It is all for the sake of patting eachother on the back as it could end up like Bravil if blood goes bad between the powerheads of Riften, that they agree to provide with the info.
And do I hope you do swiftly while I sit here jealous for (likely) not gonna be able to afford it/ or have the time!
*Dons her hat and bows*
I'll make sure to follow this one closely !
I'm planning the next entry right now, going to be a small overview on other things I expect but I'll wait with publishing it once I have both it and the next episode regarding the thieves
As we discussed in mail you figured most things out already, and suddenly a new one pops up - not continuing to traffick as the... I'm not going to write further 'lest someone else overhears.
You look to be over your writers block.
Well done, Jo.
And as I decided to join in on the Unravelling I changed it further, and now it's really quite exciting as I am also involving some cosmic interplay into mine (it was planned before Unravelling so that's cool). But it will take some time before we get to that point!
