    Excellent chapter my friend!
I really enjoyed diving with Grim in the memories of his past. Many small details that add greatly to the immersion, such Velulfr offering mead to Grim, because it is true that at this "era", sometimes children also drank alcohol. Many immersion being given that I always read your stories with google Transaltor, but I really feel to be there.

It was really sad to see how vampires kill violently poor Tundra and Frostfires, really sad but the severity of their injuries that caused their death was very telling, it shows the power and cruelty that have vampires. Of course I have always understood that Grim hate vampires, but this event of the past, certainly increase his hatred against them. But at least Tundra and Frostfires died bravely and will be well-deserved eternal rest.
Grim did not have a happy childhood, being sent to the orphanage in Riften...
Then his stay in prison for having give a good lesson to the old Grelod, followed by the loss of his dear Snowpaw...
Very sad to hear that about the little Snowpaw also

Marissa is really a wonderful woman, I understand that Alfrún feel a little jealousy because Marissa give Grim that she could not give him, the love of a mother. BTW I love the fact that Alfrún observed Grim from the eyes of animals, like the falcon or the skeever very good idea
I really appreciate also when Grim is at the grave and when Marissa was present without saying a word, but offering her presence.
Brynjolf to learn many things to Grim is what explains why it is good at stealth, picking locks and other discretion techniques. It seems that Grim and Bryn to appreciate each other.
Very nice chapter of Grim's past, how he learned different things alongside of different social class, great work as always Jonathan!

Hey there Franck - thank you so much for the wonderful comment. You got all the main parts correct so the google translator is doing a good job

Indeed Grim is not at all fond of vampires, undead, or the Thalmor. Has a few scores to settle with them. Even when he tries to leave them alone they keep coming after him. Sometimes you have to fight back.

Grim had some rough spots in his childhood but there are plenty of good times as well - times with his wolf friends, training with Velulfr and Marissa, he did well. Of course Tamriel is not an easy place so he also had his rough spots but luckily he had some people who cared for him. Now he tries to return the favor by protecting and helping others.

Glad you liked how I had Alfrun keep watch over people (she has some Shaman background) and how I provided details on Grims training and skills. Thanks again for the feedback and comment!

So sad that Snow Paw got sick and died! At such a formative point in Grims life as well. No doubt the experience helped form Grims great compassion. Fantastic and emotional chapter.
    BTW great website you have!

Thanks Aok - aye Snowpaw had a big influence on him in many ways, like many things in childhood. Thanks for the compliment on the website - mainly a holding ground for storage. My own version of the cloud

Another superb addition dear. Very sad to read about Frostfire and Tundra but if they had to die it's best they died as hero wolves rather than succumbing to old age as it threatened. Could've done without the description of entrails in the snow however! (That's just because I'm stupidly pathetic when it comes to animal cruelty though and u can't even bring myself to kill a dog in skyrim)!

I really liked how you mentioned alfrun's jealousy and mixed feelings as she had to watch another woman raise grim and for all intents and purposes become his mother. I also liked the way you've highlighted how grim came to posess many of his unique talents; his stealth and skill with the bow from Bryn, his healing magics from Marissa and his strength and warrior heart from Velulfr... even his sense of justice probably was shaped early by Grelod. And of course his mystical otherworldliness from alfrun herself coupled with his strange father and grandfather's lineage.

It was sad to read about Snowpaw but inevitable i suppose. That's the way of things with pets (damn them for getting into our lives as much as they do). I have really enjoyed seeing young grim and think this is a fantastic way of sharing yet more depth of the man. I'd like to do something similar with Rathe one day (well I guess I am in 'the project' but I mean on here to share with my friends).

Hope to see the next instalment soon hon!

I am the same way really - but I did want to make a dramatic scene as I really wanted to show Grim didn't have a completely rainbow childhood You note I wrote that all as text.I could have summoned vampires and wolves ... but I hate seeing animals hurt. Tundra, Frostfire, Snowpaw, Wolfgar ... they are all essential and protected in my games. Plus in Skyrim they have an afterlife - the first three are all with Fenrirs spirit in his realm now living the good life until the rest of their pack joins them.

Thanks for the feedback on all these stories ... I know there was a lot of reading to do! I wanted to provide rationale for all of Grim's abilities and try to show some of the things that shaped his personality. As you know an entire book could have been written on his birth to age 16 years let alone a few chapters with images. Did what I could to highlight some things and still keep it reasonable length.

Hope your project is going well and you know I always enjoy seeing more of your creativity and work here on Nexus!

Some sad memories about Frostfire, Tundra and Snowpaw. I understand well that Grim has fallen into a depression. His children soul could certainly not understand why also Bryn turned away from him, but how will you see the light, if you know nothing about the darkness.
    Sad experiences, but important ones.

What a cliffhanger! It was time to share the last, the single most important memory, with Grim.
    I can`t wait for part P26.

I´m pleased that you have special ideas for Alduin. You know, i have a faible for Dragons, and Alduin is a very special and majestic one!

Greatly written chapter Jon, and wonderful images!

Thank you so much for reading the story and the comment Heidi, very glad you enjoyed it even though I know it was a sad chapter in many ways. It is those experiences that define us as we gro, as you alluded to with your wonderful comment about seeing the light and the darkness.

Alduin is indeed special and majestic although I would not consider him a good dragon. I would reserve that Parthanaux who is my favorite dragon. The rest I see is more neutral. Only Alduin seems to be twisted in some way.

I don't hunt dragons myself. I only fight them when they attack me.

I know I have allow a story to get to close to my heart when I cry real tears......... and this did it twice ............ felt sadness as the tears came when I read the part about Tundra and Frostfire , very touching how they to the very last moment of their lives protected the Grim and each other....

That evil woman Grelod the kind my butt....... nasty piece of work that woman is ...... sometimes death is too fast and too easy a way out of that world for some kinds of people.........being cruel to helpless children......... she needed to be put in that room of hers and let someone show her what it is to be little and weaker........... sorry but my girl is such a softie for kids maybe why she has 6 of them lmao..........

Bryn, oh that man is a handsome devil........ and how he must have had to keep himself in check as Grim grew to a man.......

I felt so very bad to read of the death of Snowpaw, the scene at the grave yard made me again have tears......... so sad to see a young boy stand to bury his friend.....

So next? the teaser shot of the next memory looks very interesting...... seem the Thalmor ........... bastards they are ......... are up to no good again...... surprised any still alive with how Grim, Dannee, EC and company , Morgana and Ambrosia kill them off lmao.......... but they seem to pop right out of the wood work those mean rotten things...........sorry I know when I post last bits you will see why I have a real hate on for the Thalmor at moment........... so oh kill lots will you lol..........you have did a amazing job on this story........ pulled up and and kept us on the edge of our chairs the whole way...... great words and amazing shots to go with them....... look so forward to the end and next chapters to come........ what a wonderful work of art you have created.

Many thanks Shelley! I rather hated to write all those parts but the reality is wolves simply don't live that long - no longer than my own dogs in real life. So I did what I could to give them a good life in Skyrim and at least they will be running free with Fenrir in the Forest of Twilight now. Wolfgar, however, is part divine and hence somewhat immortal ... lot of that will depend on choices Grim makes later in regards to his own semi-divine status.

Well Grim returned 5 years later and took care of Grelod for good He is now a hero of the orphange, yay! I didn't feel bad doing her in.

Aye the Thalmor breed like maggots it seems. Worse then the undead who can't seem to stay dead - they keep coming back. Well if all goes as planned they may get a serious set back at some point in the future at least.

Thanks for the comment, appreciated very much!

Yea, don't tell anyone, but I was actually starting to tear up a bit when all of Grim's childhood pets/friends starting dying, especially Snowpaw. The rest of the story was very heartfelt and enjoyable. You did a great job on Grim as a boy; he looked like a very capable lad, as Brynjolf would put it.

I'm eager to find out what happens next, so I'm staying tuned...

Well me to :-) As I wrote if I don't get emotional myself when I am writing than I am not doing it right ... course the music I sometimes pick also adds to that feeling. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you very much for following my tales of Grim and his crew
