    Sticky
SOME EXTRA DETAIL: I was trying to keep the story shorter this time :p So left out some things. See my comment to Userper for more details, but in summery: Hircine was testing Grim's resolve and will so he purposely was pushing his "buttons" to see his reactions.

Second Grims "blast" was also fueled by Hircines own power as Grim was drawing on it to control the hunt. So between his own natural powers (from Fenrir and Kynareth) combined with the Dragon Souls and Hircines own power ... it gave a large punch that surprised both of them.

Lastly there was no way Hircine could ignore such an assault but he also knows just how much more powerful he is then Grim. So he waited until a better time to exert his dominance and remind Grim who was in charge

Very nice work with great pictures as always the story is still exciting!

It intrigues me a lot and it make me a little scared to know that Mralki took the dagger from Sithis, this evil weapon seems to have a strong hold on him and I hope he will not make stupidity...
I love the vision of the Grim Hunt, a noble vision as a wolf and it is good to see that he did not accept the ideas of Hircine on the subject.
Even if this hunting led to find the sanctuary of the dark brotherhood, thanks to Hircine, but however, it is still a Daedric prince and we really can never be trusted in them.

I wonder what will happen inside the sanctuary while Grim's friends and Wolfgar have already left ...

Oh and I adore the main shot!

Mralki is also from Rorikstead, which has already been hit by enough death and sad events with poor Frankhof. It is a powerful weapon of destruction but hopefully Mralki will be able to resist it.

I had so many things I could have done with the whole Sanctuary. A stand off with Grim and the DB ransoming Wolfgar. I had even considered that - in exchange for their lives they would let Wolfgar go. However I had other things I wanted to do with the story. It wasn't even as much about destroying them as it was the Wild Hunt, Devlin getting a second chance to make right, and Arnbjorn ... so I had to set it up the way I did with them helping Wolfgar and the "guests" before Grim got there.

Glad you liked the story and the main shot Franck! Thanks for commenting!

Oh!!! Awesome work! I loved the idea that only those being hunted would see the hunt. Brilliant!
I din not know that you had uploaded this already so now I race to the next chapter!
    Exciting as always my friend!

Thanks very much Aok! Aye the hunt has a bit of the "Fey" about it, other-worldly and supernatural. You need the second-sight to normally see it unless you have already been sucked into it ... at which point you tend to be doomed already so it doesn't matter if you can see them

Fantastic continuation dear. Three things struck me in particular.
    1. Mralki and the dagger. That was very unexpected and thoroughly enticing. What is going to happen here?? Will Mralki turn evil? Will Erik somehow come into contact with the dagger and become evil, thus forcing Grim into one of the hardest decision of his life? Oh the anticipation is delightful!

    2. Grim refusing to slay the innocent man. I have to say, I'd have had Grim succumb to his beast blood and kill the man, if only to give him some angst, but by not doing it, and by then 'b&@*$ slapping' Hircine, it added a whole new dimension. Playing up his Dragonborn abilities in a way that highlights his strength. I sense a new Daaedric Prince... or some kind of otherworld being... in the making.

    3. Daedric Prince's do not sulk. We merely become introspective. THIS IS MY NEW CATCHPHRASE! You should have this printed on T-Shirts and sell them! Seriously, I ADORE this line and I VOW to steal it and use it in Rathe's tale somewhere!

In all, a wonderful addition and before my uni lecture starts I hope to get into the next tale!!

Well I can't comment to much here but I completed the story this weekend, with the epilogue just posted a moment ago, so you can find out all the gory details soon enough lol

All I will say is on Mralki I considered everything you said and more. It is a nice opening for something very dark. But you will see I had a pretty rough weekend this weekend so that somewhat made me take a different approach.

In regards to the innocent man ... I think I mentioned (might have cut it due to length) that some hunters got killed shortly before the Hunt fully took off ... by human standards they are innocent trappers ... by Grims they are not ... not sure if that counts lol.

However part of the Hunt was a test of Grim's resolve so it was important he show the will to resist the lure of the Hunt and even Hircine. Hircine wants to know if Grim will be able to hold his own against other princes trying to tempt him. Plus he had just chosen Mralki over Wolfgar ... in a way ... so giving in here would not have fit as well I think. Plus I am not very good at angst writing I think. I can do well with taking an existing evil and making it worse but doing very evil things to a very good person I have a very hard time with. In a book I think I could do it - even to the main character - but in a game/story setting I find it hard for some reason.

I am glad you enjoyed Hircines comment. He is a sportsman to some degree and I think has some humor (or maybe I am just projecting) even if it is usually dark. I suspect he is somewhat fascinated with Grim because he never had a mortal relative as it were.

Thanks for the wonderful insight and comments - hope you get through the lecture - I sometimes miss though actually. I am leaning towards taking a writing class this fall.

The banter between the Daedric Prince and Grim was amusing, if not at times, very suggestive. To see the displays between to forces based on different aspects of the spectrum of power (brutal strength guided by the intense hunt against the calculated skills of assasins)

You've really displayed the aspects of each mood really well (the different colour palettes displayed, the expressions and motions set by the actors)

you have amazed me once again

Thanks Exelangel! Aye there are a few ENB's at play here plus a variety of tweaks so many different types of scenes. I also really enjoyed the underlying sexual tension between Grim and Hircine. Princes are really no gender - they are what they want to be although Hircine is almost always shown as a male. But he is also the ultimate top I think and while related to Grim it is a bit obscure and distant. Still it is more just a sub-context and not anything overt. More just a way to show control.

Glad you enjoyed the images and stories!

I have to say that last shot is an amazing one of Anbjorn, the best I have ever seen of him... great job!!

Amazing shots... those ones of the wild hunt make me speechless.... what a lot of work you have put in to these chapters!

I was very surprised to see Grim blast Hircine...and was a bit worried of what would happen when Hircine decided to punish Grim. I wonder if showing Hircine just how powerful he can be was a good idea but not sure he was able to control it at the time. Now there is the worry that he will decide that Grim is of more use to him in his realm and not the human one... I do hope Grim is prepared for the battle of wills it will take if Hircine decides he wants him closer in the future....

I hope Grim knows Sithis will not be happy when he knows that Hircine helped Grim get in.... and he is a very bad enemy to have ....

A very intense chapter, with a few more twists and making us wonder what will happen next will Anbjorn stand with Grim or fight with the DB....soon I hope we find out....

Truly Epic chapter Jon.... really amazing work....

Thanks kindly Shelley - I know how busy you have been so appreciate the time you made to check out the story and comment! I have to admit I am rather attracted to Arnbjorn - he is a beast of a man :-) In that shot he makes me think of what Thor might look like.

I think Hircine would not mind if Grim moved to the Hunting Ground as his favorite "child" among the manbeasts ... perhaps that is in the back of his mind as he continues to help Grim. I do know that eventually Grim will be faced with some choices when it comes to mortal life and the divine.

Sithis ... it is not easy to understand. Sithis is soul of Padomy and is neither good nor evil but is instead emptiness and the void. Sithis represents limits and death is the ultimate limit. Hence IT is usually considered evil since many death cults worship Sithis (DB, vampires, etc.). I think in general, from a human/mer perspective Sithis is evil but from a more universal perspective IT is just the void. Regardless my own view on this is that Sithis, all the entities, is the most emotionally removed from all the divine and is neither Aedra nor Daedra. It has no real feelings. All came from the void and all will return to it at some point. Death comes to all things and eventually Grim will be in IT's grasp.

So from my story telling Sithis does not care directly. That being said IT's followers, who can wiled the power of Sithis (like Astrid or the Night Mother) do care. Hence why Cicero and the Night mother had plans "with" Sithis to corrupt Grim. Sithis would not be opposed as it hungers for souls in the sense that it hungers for the end of all things - it wants a return to the purity of the void. At least that is what I get out of all the lore and mumbo-jumbo. Nataly might have more insight. So Grim escaped - it isn't taken personally and there won't be any vengence. That requires emotion. Sithis would try again to corrupt him - but not out of revenge but simply because Grim would be yet another death dealing tool to deliver souls.

Not sure if that makes any sense :-)

Many thanks for the thought provoking comment and and feedback!

Great images again! I think I like the 2nd one the most (because of its mysterious atmosphere), followed by the main image (which reminds me a bit of the entrance to the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion (inside the abandoned house in Cheydinhal).
Also a great portrait of Arnbjorn (Bonus/teaser image).

Arnbjorn is a hotty - bit of a Norse God in a way. Almost Thor like I would say. Really enjoyed working with him and happy he has joined the Black Wolf Company now. I did not finish Oblivion so cool that they used something similar in looks.

Thanks for all your comments and checking out my images and stories

Grim against Hircine, and written with a lot of humor! Greatly done Jon!
Of course Hircine is more powerful than Grim, but i think he is proud that his grandson has such a strong will.

    One question:
According to which criteria the wild hunt marked their prey?
A traveler, who is collecting some plants, makes no sense for me.
Is it Hircine, who marks the prey, as if it were a lottery, of pure bloodlust?

Mralki has the Sithis Dagger. That could end badly.
I`m very curious about your ideas, what Mralki will do with this dagger.

Looking forward for chapter 9 and the coincidence of Grim and Arnbjorn.

The traveler was not part of the hunt. The hunt is a supernatural entity in many ways. When it is called there is usually a predetermined prey, often just one person, and that is what the hunt goes after.

However anyone who hears the baying of the spectral hounds/wolves can also be marked for death. From the WIKI entry (which is the easiest to quote):

Seeing the Wild Hunt was thought to presage some catastrophe such as war or plague, or at best the death of the one who witnessed it. Mortals getting in the path of or following the Hunt could be kidnapped and brought to the land of the dead. A girl who saw Wild Edric's Ride was warned by her father to put her apron over her head to avoid the sight. Others believed that people's spirits could be pulled away during their sleep to join the cavalcade.

In Germany, where it was also known as the "Wild Army", or "Furious Army", its leader was given various identities, including Wodan (or "Woden" ), Knecht Ruprecht (cf. Krampus), Berchtold (or Berchta), and Holda (or "Holle" ). The Wild Hunt is also known from post-medieval folklore.

Grims "Hunt" was out of sync with the world (he is not powerful enough to call a full hunt like Hircine can) and only those marked by it could see it. Exception would be mages or those with the "second sight" (like those who have visions or can see the dead or fairies). This traveler is an alchemist and he has the second sight. As Hircine noted he saw the hunt and in turn the hunt could "see" him and thus he became fair game for it ... well as far as Hircine is concerned. Grim, however, clearly disagreed.

As to how the Dark Brotherhood got marked for the hunt - that was Grim's doing. It was his rage, despair, and intense emotions combined with his heritage to Hircine and Fenrir that called the Wild Hunt. He wanted the blood of those who kidnapped Wolfgar more than anything else in the world and hence the hunt was formed around that desire.

There is no place in the mortal world they could have hidden from the hunt once marked. The only hope is that they could outlast the hunt - either by outrunning it or eluding it - until the hunt expires as it will only last 1 day (24 hours). Or, I suppose, if powerful enough they could try to defeat it ... not an easy task either.

      Hope that explains it

PS - As to Mralki ... there will be a follow up on what is happening with the dagger although not a separate story at this point. Somewhere around chapter 11 or 12 I think. Chapter 10 I am going to start today.

I didn`t know very much about the wild hunt, but yesterday i spent my afternoon to inform me about this mystical thing, and i was surprised that our fairy-tale figure "Frau Holle" belongs to it.

    Excellent chapter Jon!!
I had a feeling in the last chapter that the dagger would end up with Mralki, I just hope he does not do anything stupid with it.. but I have a feeling the will of the dagger will over power the will of the man..and thank you for the cliffhanger
Looking forward to the next chapter.
